Day 218 – Meditation
Psalm 119:1 ALEPH. Blessed is the undefiled in the way, who walks in the law of JEHOVAH! 2 Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! 3 They also do no iniquity; they walk in His ways.
4 You commanded us to keep Your precepts diligently. 5 Oh, that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes! 6 Then I would not be ashamed, when I look into Your commandments.
7 I will praise You with uprightness of heart, when I learn Your righteous judgments. 8 I will keep Your statutes; oh, do not forsake me utterly!
God’s names:

Today we begin our journey through Psalm 119. A study not only into the heart of the psalmist but also a study into God’s heart for His people. Each of the twenty-two sections begins with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet.
Several psalmists contribute to the psalms. Each writer has a voice so you can attribute certain psalms to them. We don’t know who wrote Psalm 119, but we have a clue to the writer of this first section. He starts this psalm in the same manner Psalm one starts.
Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 but his delight is in the law of JEHOVAH, and in His law, he meditates day and night.
You also know the psalmist is well acquainted with JEHOVAH’S Law. It’s his delight. Though every Levite knew the law intimately, King David is attributed to knowing the Law and spending much time in meditation of JEHOVAH’S Law.
When was the last time you spent time in JEHOVAH’S Word, meditating on it day and night? When was the last time you sought JEHOVAH with your whole heart?
As Christians, you sing songs of praise promising to delight in Yeshuwa, to walk in His ways, and keep yourself pure and holy before Him. Yet, what happens when you stop singing the songs, leave the worship service, or Bible study? You go back to your usual routine. The words you sang mean as much as the breath you breathe, you don’t think about it, you just do it.
When you determine as David did to meditate on Yeshuwa’s Word, spend time in His presence, reading, studying, praying, spending time with other believers around Yeshuwa’s Word, then the words you sing will have more meaning. You will start to live the words you sing and the Scripture you read.
Note the blessing contained in this section. Blessed are the undefiled who keep JEHOVAH’S Law. Blessed are those who keep His testimonies and seek Him with their whole heart. Does this describe you? Do you meditate on Yeshuwa’s Word day and night?
Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law will not depart from your mouth, but you will meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to everything written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to Theos, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Christianity isn’t an occasional activity. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you committed to spending time with Him so you could get to know Him. You can’t know Him unless you read His Word, meditating on it day and night.
Does that mean you don’t do anything else? No, everyone has activities they engage in to have a balanced life. However, when you start your day in Yeshuwa’s Word, in Bible study, and prayer, you will know what activities will benefit your life and which ones you need to avoid.
Commit your life to Yeshuwa today. Let the words you sing and the Scripture you read have more meaning as you go throughout your day.
Let’s pray: Father, let Your Word sink into my heart so that I am meditating on it throughout the day. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
