Day 220 – Prayer

Psalm 119:17 GIMEL. Deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live and keep Your word.

18 Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.

19 I am a stranger on the earth; do not hide Your commandments from me.

20 My soul breaks with longing for Your judgments always.

21 You rebuke the proud—the cursed, who stray from Your commandments.

22 Remove from me reproach and contempt, for I kept Your testimonies.

23 Princes also sit and speak against me, but Your servant meditates on Your statutes.

24 Your testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.

God’s character:

Lawgiver

When you pray, do your prayers reflect your needs and desires? Are they desperate prayers for help? Do your prayers reflect the longing of your heart?

The psalmist prayed for help so he could live and keep Elohiym’s Word. His prayer reflected his longing to see justice against those who came against him. His only desire was to delight in JEHOVAH’S testimonies.

When you pray to Yeshuwa, what do your prayers reflect? Is your goal in prayer to spend time with Yeshuwa? Do you delight in His Word as the psalmist delighted in Elohiym’s testimonies? Do you pray desperate prayers for health and healing; for Yeshuwa to come against your adversaries? Do you pray for your loved ones, friends, the peace of Jerusalem?

Christians pray for many things. Most often those prayers are selfish prayers, reflecting where their true thoughts are; on themselves and their desires.

The psalmist prayed a selfish prayer, not as one would expect from a selfish prayer, but one that would bring him close to JEHOVAH and keep him focused on what truly mattered; his relationship with Elohiym.

When your prayers focus on your relationship with Yeshuwa, you will pray for the desires of Yeshuwa’s heart, the salvation of your family members, friends, your government and those in authority over you.

1 Timothy 2:1 Therefore, I exhort first that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and everyone in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of Theos our Soter, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2 Peter 3:9 The Kurios is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that everyone should come to repentance.

When your prayer reflects Yeshuwa’s heart, you will see His blessings in your life, and He will take care of your needs and desires also.

Psalm 37:3 Trust in JEHOVAH and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in JEHOVAH, and He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to JEHOVAH, trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. 6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.

7 Rest in JEHOVAH and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

Yeshuwa has your back when you seek His will first when you pray. He knows your desires and needs. His promise is to take care of your needs according to His riches in glory by Christos Iesous.

Philippians 4:19 My Theos will supply everything you need according to His riches in glory by Christos Iesous.

Make Yeshuwa your first contact of the day. Spend time with Him in prayer and Bible study and watch Him take care of you throughout the day. When you do, your prayer will sound like the psalmist’s prayer.

Let’s pray: Father, I delight in You. I worship and praise You for You are my God, my King, my Savior, my Redeemer, my hope. In You I find strength because I do not face my enemies alone. You are beside me, fighting for me. Let my prayers always reflect Your desires for my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
