Day 224 – Hope
Psalm 119:49 ZAYIN. Remember the word to Your servant, upon which You caused me to hope.
50 This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word gave me life.
51 The proud have me in great derision, yet I do not turn aside from Your law.
52 I remembered Your judgments of old, O JEHOVAH, and comforted myself.
53 Indignation took hold of me because of the wicked, who forsake Your law.
54 Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.
55 I remember Your name in the night, O JEHOVAH, and I keep Your law. 56 This has become mine, because I kept Your precepts.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Kurios – Divine Authority
Pater – Father
God’s character:
Lawmaker
What brings you comfort? What memories do you hold onto that bring joy and hope? Do you find yourself singing or humming favorite songs?
The psalmist asked JEHOVAH to remember His Word to him because it brought him hope. It was his comfort when he saw the wicked forsake JEHOVAH’S Law. He remembered the comfort JEHOVAH’S judgments brought him.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, what hope did He give You? Do you remember to open His Word to read His promises to you? Does His Word bring you comfort? Do you find yourself singing songs even during the night? Do you wake with a song on your lips? Do you feel indignation when people mock and malign your faith and Yeshuwa? Or do you go through your day without thinking about how people mock and ridicule Yeshuwa?
Many Christians sit in their homes closed off to the world, believing if they don’t do anything to contradict what the world says against Yeshuwa that it won’t affect them. Yet it does. If you don’t speak up for Yeshuwa, the rocks will cry out.
The psalmist wanted JEHOVAH to remember His Word to him. He felt indignation for those who forsook Him and came against His Law. This same indignation should be yours. You should add your voice to that of the psalmist and declare your faith for everyone to hear. Satan loves it when you stay in your home and say nothing about how people want to destroy Yeshuwa’s name. If you don’t speak up, someone else will and you might find yourself left behind when Yeshuwa returns for His church.
Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Kurios, Kurios,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Pater in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Kurios, Kurios, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
You don’t want to hear Yeshuwa say that to you. Stand up and be counted among those who stand indignant at how Satan tries to take Yeshuwa out of every facet of your life. Let His songs fill your night. Read and study His Word until you can quote Scripture when Satan comes against you to take everything from you. Let His Word bring you comfort and joy and make it yours as the psalmist did. Let yourself be known as a Christian.
Let’s pray: Father, let Your Word be on my lips and in my heart. Let it fill me to overflowing so everyone knows I belong to You. Let Your songs fill my night so that I wake up praising You. Let me speak up when I see Satan working against Your people. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
