Day 225 – Loyalty

Psalm 119:57 CHETH. You are my portion, O JEHOVAH; I said I would keep Your words.

58 I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; be merciful to me according to Your word.

59 I thought about my ways and turned my feet to Your testimonies. 60 I made haste and did not delay keeping Your commandments.

61 The cords of the wicked bound me, but I did not forget Your law.

62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You, because of Your righteous judgments.

63 I am a companion of everyone who fears You, and of those who keep Your precepts.

64 The earth, O JEHOVAH, is full of Your mercy; teach me Your statutes.

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Merciful

Righteous

Teacher

How loyal are you to your friends, family, and activities? Or do you only look after yourself? Many people live in the moment, doing whatever they want with no regard to anyone else.

The psalmist said JEHOVAH was his portion, his allotment. He told JEHOVAH he would serve Him with his whole heart. He would not delay in obeying His commandments. No matter what wicked people did to him, he would rise early and give thanks to Him because of His righteous judgments. Everything the psalmist did was with complete loyalty to JEHOVAH. He would not consider any other way in his life.

There’s a song Christians sing with a line that says, ‘All to Jesus I surrender.’ Do you surrender your life to Yeshuwa every day, or only when it fits with your schedule? Where is your loyalty in spending quality time with Him, reading your Bible, praying, going to church, Bible study, helping those in need, doing what the Bible says in loving your neighbor as yourself? Or do you only do those things when it’s convenient?

It wasn’t convenient for Yeshuwa to die on the cross for your salvation. It wasn’t convenient for JEHOVAH to send His Son to Earth to be born of a virgin, so you could have eternal life. Christianity isn’t a convenient lifestyle. It’s a commitment. You are either loyal to Yeshuwa, giving Him every moment of your day, or you live your life on your terms.

The psalmist said even when the wicked bound him, he would not forget JEHOVAH but would rise early and give Him thanks. The psalmist was fully committed to JEHOVAH, body, soul, and spirit.

How committed are you? Where does your loyalty lie when it comes to your faith? Do you show up or do you sleep in? When given a choice to spend time with other believers or with people or activities who don’t know or honor Yeshuwa, what is your choice?

If you gave your life to Yeshuwa, you know where your loyalty should lie. Examine your life and make any changes necessary to fulfill your commitment to Yeshuwa and His gospel. Or you might hear Him say, “Depart from me, I never knew you” when you enter eternity. Christianity is everything or nothing. For the psalmist, it was everything.

Let’s pray: Father, I give You my life, my thoughts, my actions, everything I am belongs to You. Give me Your blessing and favor because I love You with my entire life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
