Day 226 – Undeserving

Psalm 119:65 TETH. You dealt well with Your servant, O JEHOVAH, according to Your word. 66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I believe Your commandments.

67 Before I was afflicted, I went astray, but now I keep Your word.

68 You are good and do good; teach me Your statutes.

69 The proud forged a lie against me, but I will keep Your precepts with my whole heart. 70 Their heart is as fat as grease, but I delight in Your law.

71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes.

72 The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver.

God’s names:

Hagios Pneuma – Sacred, Holy, Violent Wind, Breath, Spirit

Theos – Supreme Divinity

Christos – Anointed One, Messiah

Iesous – Jesus

God’s character:

Good

Teacher

Merciful

How well do people work with you? Do they treat you better than you expected or worse? What lessons did you learn from how people treated you?

For the psalmist, he said JEHOVAH treated him better than he expected, but realized it was according to His Word to him. Before affliction, conviction, the psalmist went astray. However, since conviction, he kept JEHOVAH’S Word and never went astray again. It was through His Word; he learned JEHOVAH’S statutes. He only asked JEHOVAH to teach him good judgment and knowledge. In so doing, he could keep His law and learn His statutes.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, the Hagios Pneuma convicted you of your sin. It was through conviction; you learned about your sin and its effects on your eternal soul. Without affliction, you could not accept Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord. When you did, you wanted Him to teach You His Word so you could live by it and gain knowledge of the fathomless love He has for you. You also realized He treated you better than you deserved, and understood it was according to His Word. He promised to cast your sin as far as the east is from the west.

Psalm 103:10 He dealt with us not according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

His forgiveness is boundless. His mercy is everlasting. His love is eternal. You don’t deserve what He offers you. The psalmist said he didn’t deserve how well JEHOVAH treated him. Yet, JEHOVAH loved you so much, He sent His Son to die for you to bring you into a right relationship with Him.

We deserve death. He offered life, and life more abundantly.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of Theos is eternal life in Christos Iesous our Kurios.

Let’s pray: Father, I don’t deserve Your love, but You give it without measure. I don’t deserve eternal life, but You sent Your Son to provide salvation for me through His death on the cross. I am a sinner, deserving death, but You offered me life. I am overwhelmed by Your unfailing love for me. Bless me because I trust in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
