Day 228 – Restoration

Psalm 119:81 KAPH. My soul faints for Your salvation, but I hope in Your word. 82 My eyes fail from searching Your word, saying, “When will You comfort me?”

83 For I became like a wineskin in smoke, yet I do not forget Your statutes.

84 How many are the days of Your servant? When will You execute judgment on those who persecute me?

85 The proud dug pits for me, which is not according to Your law. 86 Your commandments are faithful; they persecute me wrongfully; Help me! 87 They almost made an end of me on earth, but I did not forsake Your precepts.

88 Revive me according to Your lovingkindness, so that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth.

What do you do when your life looks hopeless? Where do you turn? Do you keep believing you will see better days? Many people, going through troubled times, remember what it was like when life was good and look for the light at the end of the tunnel.

The psalmist prayed for help because even his soul longed for salvation and comfort from Elohiym. He told Him he felt dried up like a wineskin exposed to smoke. However, he continued to seek JEHOVAH in His Law. No matter what people did to him, he would continue to trust in JEHOVAH’S lovingkindness and His testimonies.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, did you believe your troubles ended and everything would be good from then on? Many Christians believe that and then wonder why their troubles multiply tenfold. What do you do? Many Christians will seek help from other Christians, asking for prayer; they will even seek answers in self-help books and forget to turn to the one person who can help them, Yeshuwa.

Your Bible has the answers you need. Though it isn’t a self-help book. It’s a book that teaches you to rely on Yeshuwa in every situation you face. He is your source when Satan comes against you. He is your strength when Satan pounds you from every side and you feel like you will never stand again. Yeshuwa is your refuge in the storm. When the world comes against you, Yeshuwa will guide you to safety. You only need to do what the psalmist did, continue to read Yeshuwa’s Word.

Satan will distract you with the cares of this world. Yeshuwa will give you hope. He will calm your storm and lead you to safety. Next time Satan comes against you to destroy your faith, distract you with worldly cares and trouble, open Yeshuwa’s Word and pray, seek His face, and watch Him fill you with hope so that you no longer feel like a dried, withered, cracked wineskin. You have the blood of Jesus flowing through your veins restoring you to life with the hope only He gives.

Let’s pray: Father, restore me in Your lovingkindness, fill me with Your hope, rescue me from Satan’s schemes, and direct me to Your Word which satisfies the longing in my heart. Let Your Word flow through me and restore this broken vessel to full usefulness once again. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
