Day 231 – Light

Psalm 119:105 NUN. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

106 I swore and confirmed that I will keep Your righteous judgments.

107 I am afflicted much; revive me, O JEHOVAH, according to Your word.

108 Accept, I pray, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O JEHOVAH, and teach me Your judgments.

109 My life is continually in my hand, yet I do not forget Your law. 110 The wicked laid a snare for me, yet I did not stray from Your precepts.

111 Your testimonies I took as a heritage forever, for they are the rejoicing of my heart. 112 I inclined my heart to perform Your statutes forever, to the end.

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Yeshuwa – Jesus

Adown – Sovereign

God’s character:

Righteous

Teacher

Throughout time, people used lamps to light their way in dark places. How many lamps do you have to shine the light in dark places? Today, people don’t use oil lamps as they did in the past. They use flashlights and candles. Do you know where to find your flashlights and candles when the lights go out?

The psalmist didn’t refer to an actual oil lamp to light his way. He referred to JEHOVAH’S Word. The light of JEHOVAH’S Law confirmed His righteous judgments, revived him when afflicted, or wicked people laid snares for him. He never let the lamp of JEHOVAH’S Word go out, but kept it trimmed and burning as he studied, meditated on the Law night and day. Because he continually studied the law, they were a delight and rejoicing to him.

Is Yeshuwa’s Word a light in your life? Do you read and study it as the psalmist studied the Law? Do you rejoice in Yeshuwa’s Word and use it when Satan comes against you? Is Yeshuwa’s Word delightful to you?

Psalm 8:1 (To the Chief Musician. On the instrument of Gath. A Psalm of David.) O JEHOVAH, our Adown, how excellent is Your name throughout the earth, who set Your glory above the heavens! 2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You ordained strength, because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

Yeshuwa’s Word stops the mouths of those who mock Him. Satan cannot combat Yeshuwa’s Word when it lives in your heart and life. Yeshuwa’s Word in your life causes you to give freely to Him as you rejoice in every blessing He gives you. You will praise Him and rejoice because His Word goes before you as a lamp in dark places.

Have you hidden Yeshuwa’s Word in your heart? Does it shine brightly on the path He laid out for you? Rejoice and sing His praises because His light lives in you.

Let’s pray: Father, let Your light shine in my life, lighting the path in front of me. Let Your light in me glorify You in everything I say and do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
