Day 232 – Prayer Request

Psalm 119:121 AYIN. I did justice and righteousness; do not leave me to my oppressors. 122 Be surety for Your servant for good; do not let the proud oppress me.

123 My eyes fail from seeking Your salvation and Your righteous word.

124 Deal with Your servant according to Your mercy and teach me Your statutes. 125 I am Your servant; give me understanding, that I may know Your testimonies.

126 It is time for You to act, O JEHOVAH, for they regarded Your law as void.

127 Therefore, I love Your commandments more than gold, yes, than fine gold! 128 Therefore, Your precepts concerning everything I consider to be right; I hate every false way.

God’s names:

Did you ever want something so bad, you begged your boss, spouse, those in authority to make beneficial changes for your life? You see it every day. People will lobby for changes for their good.

The psalmist prays to JEHOVAH for what he needs in his life. He tells JEHOVAH he did justice and righteousness and asks Him to be surety for him for good and not let the proud oppress him. He seeks JEHOVAH’S salvation and reads the Law until his eyes are too tired to read. He wants to understand everything he reads. He finishes by reiterating how much he loves JEHOVAH’S commandments and regards them better than gold.

As Christians, you recognize the psalmist presented his prayer requests to JEHOVAH. You do the same when you need Yeshuwa to help you. However, when you make your requests known to Yeshuwa, do you only present your requests, or do you give Him honor and praise for what He gave you before you make your requests? Too often, Christians will present a grocery list of needs and wants, reading them off as you do when you shop for groceries to make certain you forget nothing on your list. Forgetting the most important part of your prayer; praise for what He did for you.

The psalmist didn’t forget to give JEHOVAH honor and praise for His place in his life. He told Him how he read the law, and that he considered it better than fine gold. He told how he read the Law until his eyes were tired from reading because he loved His commandments.

What do you love about Yeshuwa? What blessings did He provide for you? How did He take care of you? What did He give you that you didn’t ask for or consider even something you wanted? How many blessings does He give you every day without you asking for them?

The only thing the psalmist asked from JEHOVAH was for Him to keep him safe from his oppressors. Your oppressor is Satan. Do you ask for Yeshuwa to keep Satan far from you so you can spend time with Him in fellowship with other believers or your alone time with Him? It’s not a given that He will keep Satan from you. He might allow Satan to come against you to see if you will turn to Him for help.

Yeshuwa wants you to come to Him with everything in your life. He wants to help you. Give Him your prayer requests as the psalmist did and don’t forget to give Him honor and praise for the blessings He gives you every day.

Let’s pray: Father, I praise You because You sent Your Son to die on the cross for my salvation. I praise You because You provide everything I need for my health and safety. You keep Satan from me when I spend time with You. I give You praise. Keep me safe today. Keep my feet from stumbling and show me Your salvation as I spend time with You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
