Sometimes it’s easy to read a person just by looking at them. Though as the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover. Even first impressions can be way off. So, what personality traits send me red flags?

A person who doesn’t look at you when you talk to them. Their attention is always elsewhere not on you or the conversation you’re trying to have with them. Walk away. They won’t miss you anyway.

A person who always makes excuses when you ask for help or if you want to get together with them for a relaxing day. Emphasis on Always. There are occasions when it’s impossible for the person to help or find time in an overly busy schedule.

The person who can’t say a positive thing about anyone or anything. Keep away from that individual. Chances are that person can’t find anything good to say about you either.

Jesus told the people to watch how people live and who they should stay away from.

Mt 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16 “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?

People’s lives speak volumes. It doesn’t take long before you know whether the person you chanced upon is good fruit or bad. No one likes bad fruit, and no one likes to be around bad people.

Galatians 5:13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. (NKJV)

You will know people by their actions. It doesn’t take long before you see all the red flags a person carries with them. Pay attention to them and you will avoid a world of hurt.

What are your red flags? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.

My biggest red flag is a person who can’t (or won’t try) to control their temper. Second is a person who consistently does not do what they say they are going to do. I have very little tolerance for either 🙂
