Day 236 – Help

Psalm 119:153 RESH. Consider my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget Your law. 154 Plead my cause and redeem me; revive me according to Your word.

155 Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek Your statutes.

156 Great are Your tender mercies, O JEHOVAH; revive me according to Your judgments.

157 Many are my persecutors and my enemies, yet I do not turn from Your testimonies.

158 I see the treacherous, and am disgusted, because they do not keep Your word.

159 Consider how I love Your precepts; revive me, O JEHOVAH, according to Your lovingkindness.

160 The entirety of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Yeshuwa – Jesus

Theos – Supreme Divinity

God’s character:

Deliverer

Redeemer

Tender Mercies

Loving kindness

Truth

Righteous

Advocate

Restorer

What troubles do you face? Who do you turn to for help? Do you have anyone who will stand by you in your difficulties?

The psalmist turned to JEHOVAH to plead his cause and redeem him from his enemies. He relied on JEHOVAH’S testimonies and precepts. Through His Law, he saw JEHOVAH’S lovingkindness and tender mercies. He knew only JEHOVAH could save him and restore him. The psalmist saw the treachery of his enemies, and it disgusted him. Then the psalmist gave a reason for his request for help. He knew the entire Law was truth and JEHOVAH’S righteous judgments would last forever.

Do you rely on Yeshuwa to come to your aid when Satan comes against you? Do people who set out to harm others disgust you? Is Yeshuwa your advocate and the person you turn to when everything goes against you?

Many Christians go against Satan in their strength instead of relying on Yeshuwa and His promises to keep them safe and fight for them. They forget Yeshuwa is their advocate and will plead their cause. It isn’t until their problems become more than they can handle that they turn to Yeshuwa for help.

The psalmist turned to JEHOVAH at the onset of his trouble. He gave Him reasons why He should help him. He studied His Law and testimonies. The psalmist knew JEHOVAH was his only hope.

Yeshuwa is your only hope. You can rely on Him to help you against Satan. He will deliver you in His strength, not yours.

When the psalmist gave his reasons why JEHOVAH should help him, he gave one last reason; JEHOVAH’S entire Word is truth and lasts forever.

Psalm 119:89 LAMED. Forever, O JEHOVAH, Your word is settled in heaven.

2Ti 3:16 Every Scripture is given by inspiration of Theos, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of Theos may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

You are not complete or ready if you don’t rely on Yeshuwa to come to your aid against Satan.

When you asked Yeshuwa to be your Savior, you accepted His help against Satan. You became His child, and His responsibility is to keep you safe. Rely on Him as the psalmist did when his enemies came against him. When you do, you will see Satan flee from you.

James 4:7 Therefore, submit to Theos. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Let’s pray: Father, You are my God, my Savior, my Redeemer, my Advocate against my enemy, Satan. You promised to come to my aid whenever Satan comes against me. Help me to stand on the truth of Your Word and trust You to send Satan fleeing from me when I come to You for help. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
