Day 238 – Prayer
Psalm 119:169 TAU. Let my cry come before You, O JEHOVAH; give me understanding according to Your word. 170 Let my supplication come before You; deliver me according to Your word.
171 My lips will utter praise, for You teach me Your statutes.
172 My tongue will speak of Your word, for Your commandments are righteous.
173 Let Your hand become my help, for I choose Your precepts. 174 I long for Your salvation, O JEHOVAH; Your law is my delight.
175 Let my soul live, and it will praise You; let Your judgments help me.
176 I went astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant, for I do not forget Your commandments.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Huios of Anthropos – Son of Man
Pater – Father
God’s character:
Deliverer
Teacher
Righteous
Salvation
What is your most fervent prayer? What do you long for with your whole heart? Many people seek fame and fortune, a comfortable life, and a good investment portfolio so they can retire with ease.
However, the psalmist only wanted what JEHOVAH could give him. He asked for understanding of JEHOVAH’S Word, deliverance from his enemies according to His promises, and His salvation. The psalmist admitted he was a lost sheep and wanted JEHOVAH to find him. He delighted in JEHOVAH’S commandments, Law, and judgments.
When you focus your entire life on what Yeshuwa can give you, an understanding of His Word, fulfillment of His promises in your life, then you will no longer be a lost sheep, you will walk in His ways and know His love for you.
Matthew 18:11 “For the Huios of Anthropos has come to save that which was lost. 12 What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? 13 If he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. 14 Even so it is not the will of your Pater who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
Before you became a Christian, you were a lost sheep. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you committed yourself to spending time with Him in His Word. When you focus your attention on Him, He will give you the desires of your heart, understanding of His Word.
Do you seek Him with your entire heart as the psalmist did? When you do, He will find you.
Let’s pray: Father, I am a lost sheep. I seek to do Your will. Seek me, Lord, and find me. Let me rejoice in my salvation and let my praise come before You day and night. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
