Day 242 – Mercy

Psalm 123:1 (A Song of Ascents.) Unto You I lift my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens. 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to JEHOVAH our Elohiym, until He has mercy on us. 3 Have mercy on us, O JEHOVAH, have mercy on us! For we are exceedingly filled with contempt. 4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorn of those who are at ease, with the contempt of the proud.

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Elohiym – Supreme God

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Merciful

Who do you look to for help? Many people seek their friends, neighbors, family, and professionals for help, depending on their needs.

The psalmist turned to JEHOVAH for help. He knew Elohiym was the only person who could help him. He knew the condition of his soul was filled with contempt and scorn for those who lived a life without want or care.

With Yeshuwa as your Savior and Lord, do you look to Him for help? Do you ask Him to take bitterness and contempt from you when you see people with more than you? What do they have more than what you have with your relationship in Yeshuwa? Instead of feeling contempt for them, you should pray for their salvation.

The psalmist prayed for mercy because of his attitude toward those who had no regard for JEHOVAH. Your prayer to Yeshuwa should be the same for yourself. Pray for mercy and a change of attitude toward those who have more than you. Pray for their salvation. Take your eyes off worldly people who only look at you with condescension and indifference. Place your hope and trust in Yeshuwa who provides you with everything you need. When you do, you will know the joy of your salvation.

Let’s pray: Father, keep my eyes on You and my relationship with You and not on what the world offers. Let me set my eyes on things above and not on the world. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
