Day 243 – Defender

Psalm 124:1 (A Song of Ascents. Of David.) “If it had not been JEHOVAH on our side,” let Israel now say— 2 “If it had not been JEHOVAH on our side, when men revolted against us, 3 then they would have swallowed us alive, when their wrath kindled against us; 4 then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul; 5 then the swollen waters would have gone over our soul.”

 6 Blessed be JEHOVAH, who did not give us as prey to their teeth. 7 Our soul escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of JEHOVAH, who made heaven and earth.

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Yeshuwa – Jesus

Theos – Supreme Divinity

Christos – Anointed One, Messiah

Iesous – Jesus

Kurios – Supreme Authority

God’s character:

Defender

Help

Savior

Redeemer

Many people feel overwhelmed by their circumstances and want to quit. What do you do when you feel overwhelmed?

David knew where he could turn when his enemies looked like they would defeat him in battle. However, David put his trust in JEHOVAH and acknowledged him when JEHOVAH gave him the victory.

Where would you be today if Yeshuwa had not been on your side? Where would you be today if JEHOVAH had not sent His Son to Earth to die for you?

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of Theos is eternal life in Christos Iesous our Kurios.

When you acknowledged Yeshuwa as Savior and Kurios, you changed your eternal destination from eternal death to eternal life. Life doesn’t need to feel overwhelming. You can respond as David did. If Yeshuwa had not been on your side when Satan came against you to destroy you, your life would have been different. Praise JEHOVAH that your life is in His hands, and you call Him Kurios. He sent Yeshuwa to be your Savior and redeem you from Satan’s hold on your life.

Let’s pray: Father, thank you for the gift of eternal life. Let me see Your hand on my life every day and praise You for my salvation. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
