Day 246 – Heritage

Psalm 127:1 (A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon.) Unless JEHOVAH builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless JEHOVAH guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep. 3 Behold, children are a heritage from JEHOVAH, the fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they will not be ashamed but will speak with their enemies in the gate.

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Builder

Protector

Rewarder

What have you built your life upon? Many people seek fame, fortune, and glory. They want to sit at the top of society’s ladder, and many don’t care how they get there.

Solomon in his wisdom said the only way to build a house or city was through JEHOVAH. Without JEHOVAH in their lives, life would be meaningless, vain. He also said children were the heritage of JEHOVAH. Happy would be the man who had a full quiver of them. They would not bring shame but would speak with their enemies in the gate.

Today, people limit the number of children they have and surround themselves with material wealth, not the wealth JEHOVAH offers.

When you build your life on Yeshuwa, your priorities differ from the world view. You will never find happiness in material wealth. Your happiness or joy comes from a close relationship with Yeshuwa. When you build your life and marriage on Yeshuwa, He walks beside you to help you stay on the path He set for you. Will life always be perfect? No. Satan hangs around to kill, steal, and destroy everything in your life when you rely on Yeshuwa and call Him your Savior and Lord. Satan will try to destroy your children by showing them the intrigues of worldly life.

Solomon gave a message to parents to help them raise godly children.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Your Bible is your instruction manual on everything in life, including raising children.

Solomon said you would not be ashamed of your children because they would negotiate with your enemies.

Is your life founded on the rock of your salvation, Yeshuwa? If not, you can make the change today and realign your life with His.

Let’s pray: Father, align my life with You in everything I do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
