Day 248 – Blessings

Psalm 129:1 (A Song of Ascents.) “Many a time they afflicted me from my youth,” Let Israel now say— 2 “Many a time they afflicted me from my youth; yet they did not prevail against me. 3 The plowers plowed on my back; they made their furrows long.” 4 JEHOVAH is righteous; He cut in pieces the cords of the wicked.

5 Let those who hate Zion be put to shame and turned back. 6 Let them be as the grass on the housetops, which withers before it grows up, 7 with which the reaper does not fill his hand, nor he who binds sheaves, his arms. 8 Neither let those who pass by them say, “The blessing of JEHOVAH be upon you; we bless you in the name of JEHOVAH!”

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Righteous

Many people face taunts by bullies from the moment they start school well into their adult years. Defects of any kind will cause people to bully them about their defects. Yet it is the person who can persevere through taunting and bullying who will come out as a winner in life.

The psalmist likened the afflictions from the nations surrounding Israel to that of bullying. Yet through everything they endured, he saw JEHOVAH’S hand on His people, helping them and bringing them through their tribulations. With JEHOVAH’S help they reaped their harvests and received blessings from Him. Blessings are on those who bless JEHOVAH, not on those who don’t know Him.

If you gave your life to Yeshuwa, you could look to Him to help you against those who bully you. With His strength you can persevere and send those bullies from your life. Yeshuwa reserves His blessings for those who know Him and trust Him to take care of them. He does not bless those who mock Him. Neither should you bless those who don’t know Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord.

Do you see Yeshuwa’s blessings in your life? Praise Him and bless His name. If you don’t know Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, now is the time of salvation. Then you too can know His blessings in your life and see the bullies in your life leave.

Let’s pray: Father, let my praise come before You for everything You do for me. Keep the bullies from me, Lord. Let Satan know he can’t mess with Your child. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
