Day 251 – Promises
Psalm 132:1 (A Song of Ascents.) JEHOVAH, remember David and his afflictions; 2 how he swore to JEHOVAH, and vowed to the Abiyr of Jacob, 3 “Surely, I will not go into the chamber of my house, or go up to the comfort of my bed; 4 I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, 5 until I find a place for JEHOVAH, a dwelling place for the Abiyr of Jacob.” 6 Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of the woods. 7 Let us go into His tabernacle; let us worship at His footstool. 8 Arise, O JEHOVAH, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength. 9 Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness and let Your saints shout for joy. 10 For Your servant David’s sake, do not turn away the face of Your Mashiyach.
11 JEHOVAH swore in truth to David; He will not turn from it. “I will set upon your throne the fruit of your body. 12 If your sons will keep My covenant and My testimony which I will teach them, their sons also will sit upon your throne forevermore.” 13 For JEHOVAH chose Zion; He desired it for His dwelling place: 14 “This is My resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I desired it. 15 I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. 16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will shout aloud for joy. 17 There I will make the horn of David grow; I will prepare a lamp for My Mashiyach. 18 His enemies I will clothe with shame, but upon Himself His crown will flourish.”

How many promises did you make? Did you keep them? What did the promises you made involve?
David promised JEHOVAH he would not sleep until he found a dwelling place for Him. JEHOVAH held David accountable to the vow he made to Him. He gave him several ‘I will’ statements for the vow David made.
He said:
- I will set your sons on My throne
- I will teach them if they keep My covenant and testimony
- I will bless her provision
- I will satisfy the poor with bread
- I will clothe her priests with salvation
- I will make the horn of David grow
- I will prepare a lamp for my Mashiyach
- I will clothe David’s enemies with shame
What promises did you make to Yeshuwa when you accepted Him as Savior and Lord? Did you keep your promise to Him. Yeshuwa holds you accountable for every promise you make to Him. As He blessed David for the vows he made and kept, in the same way He will bless you.
JEHOVAH kept His promise to David. He will keep His promise to you as well when you keep your promise to Him.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for holding me accountable for every promise I make, whether it is to You or friends and family. Help me to remain faithful to my promises so I can live in Your blessing. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
