Daily writing prompt
When was the first time you really felt like a grown up (if ever)?

The first time I felt like a grown up was when I joined the Navy and put on the uniform of the greatest Navy in the world. I was on my own. I needed to depend on me for everything. My success or failure depended on me.

Since then, I learned my success or failure isn’t dependent on me. When I put my faith and trust in God several years after putting on the uniform, I learned I could depend on God to lead me where He wanted me. The road would be rocky. I would fail, but I would always get back up and with His help leading me, I would succeed.

It’s been decades since I put that uniform on. I learned a lot in the Navy. I learned a lot in life, and I learned I could trust God to see me through the course. I’m not in this life alone.

When did you first feel like a grown up? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.

Wonderful post, Valerie and thank you for your service 🙂 I would have to say the first time I really felt like a grownup was the first time I got in the car and drove somewhere by myself! It was just to the store to get my mom a gallon of milk, but still… 🙂
