Day 266 – Praise

Psalm 147:1 Praise (Halal) YAHH! For it is good to sing praises (zamar) to our Elohiym; for it is pleasant, and praise (tehhillah) is beautiful. 2 JEHOVAH builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the outcasts of Israel. 3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 4 He counts the number of stars; He calls them each by name. 5 Great is our Adown, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. 6 JEHOVAH lifts the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground. 7 Sing to JEHOVAH with thanksgiving; sing praises (zamar) on the harp to our Elohiym, 8 who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the mountains. 9 He gives to the beast its food, and to the young ravens that cry. 10 He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man. 11 JEHOVAH takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy.

12 Praise (Shabach) JEHOVAH, O Jerusalem! Praise (Halah) your Elohiym, O Zion! 13 For He strengthened the bars of your gates; He blessed your children within you. 14 He makes peace in your borders and fills you with the finest wheat. 15 He sends out His command to the earth; His word runs swiftly. 16 He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes; 17 He casts out His hail like morsels; who can stand before His cold? 18 He sends out His word and melts them; He causes His wind to blow, and the waters flow. 19 He declares His word to Jacob, His statutes and His judgments to Israel. 20 He did not deal thus with any nation; and as for His judgments, they did not know them. Praise (Halah) YAHH!

People love to sing. They sing along with the songs on the radio, Alexa, wherever they hear music, they sing.

David told the people to praise JEHOVAH in every possible way imaginable. One way to praise JEHOVAH was to do it with instruments.

Zamar – a primitive root (perhaps ident. with 2168 through the idea of striking with the fingers); properly, to touch the strings or parts of a musical instrument, i.e. play upon it; to make music, accompanied by the voice; hence to celebrate in song and music: –give praise, sing forth praises, psalms. (From Strong’s Concordance)

You know David played the harp and sang with the music he made, worshiping Adown when he did. Praise was an integral part of David’s life.

Christians love to sing, praise Yeshuwa in every way imaginable. Christian artists make it easy to get boisterous, celebrate, dance, shout, and worship Him with instruments of praise.

David gave many reasons to praise JEHOVAH.

JEHOVAH:

  1. Built Jerusalem
  2. Gathered the outcasts
  3. Healed the brokenhearted, bound their wounds
  4. Counts and knows the stars by name
  5. Infinite understanding
  6. Lifts the humble, casts down the wicked
  7. Controls the weather
  8. Provides food for beasts and birds
  9. Takes pleasure in those who reverence Him
  10. Strengthened the bars of their gates
  11. Blessed the children
  12. Makes peace
  13. Provides you with food
  14. Sends out His Word
  15. Declared His Word to Jacob

When you consider this list from David, you have infinite reasons to give thanks to Yeshuwa every day. Your entire day is a day of praise and blessing from Yeshuwa. You don’t know what blessing will come when your car breaks down, your health deteriorates, you lose your job. Those situations on the surface don’t look like reasons to praise Yeshuwa. However, Yeshuwa always has something better for you. You only need to trust Him.

What does your life look like? Praise Him. Are you going through trouble? Praise Him.

James 1:2 My brethren, count it joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 However, let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

James said to be joyful in your troubles because they make you stronger and reliant on Yeshuwa.

Let’s pray: Father, fill my life with Your praise and let me shout Your praise from the rooftops for everything You provide for me. Let me sing praise to You even when life looks bad because I know You are working Your good in my life. Let me see Your blessing in the tough times. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
