Day 268 – High Praise

Psalm 149:1 Praise (Halal) YAHH! Sing to JEHOVAH a new song, and His praise (tehhillah) in the assembly of saints. 2 Let Israel rejoice in their Asah; let the children of Zion be joyful in their Melek. 3 Let them praise (halal) His name with the dance; let them sing praises (zamar) to Him with the timbrel and harp. 4 For JEHOVAH takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. 5 Let the saints be joyful in glory; let them sing aloud on their beds.

6 Let the high praises (romemmah) of El be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, 7 to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples; 8 to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; 9 to execute on them the written judgment—this honor have all His saints. Praise (Halal) YAHH!

God’s names:

YAHH – Sacred name, Jah the Lord

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Asah – To make, Maker

Melek – King

El – Strength, Mighty, Almighty God

Yeshuwa – Jesus

God’s character:

Salvation

People want to get rid of their problems, the troubles in their lives. Yet no matter what they do, they persist.

The psalmist showed the people how to get rid of their troubles. Praise JEHOVAH.

There are six words for praise. We’ve seen five of them. Now we have the sixth, romemmah.

Romemmah – exaltation, high praise.

Let’s review the six forms of praise.

  1. Tehhillah – Hymn of praise
  2. Halal – Clamorously foolish, Celebrate, Boast
  3. Shabach – Loud, Triumph
  4. Yadah – Worship with lifting hands
  5. Zamar – Play instruments, Voice
  6. Romemmah – Exaltation, High Praise

When JEHOVAH heard the praise of His people, He brought the walls down, defeated their enemies, and executed judgment against them.

With the high praise of El several things happened. JEHOVAH:

  1. Executed vengeance on the nations
  2. Punished the people
  3. Bound their kings with chains, their nobles with fetters of iron
  4. Executed on them the written judgment

JEHOVAH took their trouble from them when they praised Him.

What troubles has Satan brought upon you? You often hear that you need to sing praises to Yeshuwa and He will wipe out your troubles. Satan cannot stand against the praise of Yeshuwa’s people. He will flee from you and take his troubles with him. Satan stands defeated when you praise Yeshuwa with hymns of praise, celebrate who He is, worship Him by lifting your hands in praise, get loud with your praise, play your instruments, including your voice, and give Him high praise, exalt Him.

You have no reason to lament over your troubles when praise wipes them away. The next time Satan tries to trouble you, turn on the music, sing with a loud voice, exalt the name of Yeshuwa, and worship Him. Before you know it, your troubles will turn into His triumphs.

Let’s pray: Father, I praise You for who You are, my King and my God. You deserve praise, honor, and glory. I exalt You and worship at Your footstool. When Satan comes against me, let my praise fill Your temple and let me see him defeated. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
