Day 274 – Fornication
Proverbs 5:1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom; lend your ear to my understanding, 2 that you may preserve discretion, and your lips may keep knowledge. 3 For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil; 4 but in the end, she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. 5 Her feet go down to death; her steps lay hold of hell. 6 Lest you ponder her path of life—her ways are unstable; you do not know them. 7 Therefore, hear me now, my children, and do not depart from the words of my mouth. 8 Remove your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house, 9 lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel one; 10 lest aliens be filled with your wealth, and your labors go to the house of a foreigner; 11 and you mourn at last, when your flesh and your body are consumed, 12 and say, “How I hated instruction, and my heart despised correction! 13 I did not obey the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me! 14 I was on the verge of total ruin, in the middle of the assembly and congregation.”
15 Drink water from your cistern and running water from your well. 16 Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets? 17 Let them be yours alone, and not for strangers with you. 18 Let your fountain be blessed and rejoice with the wife of your youth. 19 As a loving deer and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you always; and always be enraptured with her love. 20 For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman, and be embraced in the arms of a seductress? 21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of JEHOVAH, and He ponders his paths. 22 His iniquities entrap the wicked man, and he is caught in the cords of his sin. 23 He will die for lack of instruction, and in the greatness of his folly he will go astray.

God’s character:
Wisdom
Immorality took hold of society in the 1960s with the hippy movement. People had sex with whomever they wanted and didn’t care who they hurt in the process. Today, we no longer have the hippy movement, but people still behave immorally. People would rather live with someone rather than marry them and go their way when they get tired of the situation. Thus, society is full of single parents and dead-beat fathers.
Solomon warned his children about such behavior. He told them to enjoy the marriage bed and not spread their lust to whomever they pleased.
You see the same behavior in the church today as in the world. Christians living together outside the bonds of marriage and being okay with it. Complacency fills the pews of our churches, and Satan sits back and chortles in glee.
JEHOVAH ordained marriage in the Garden of Eden when He formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed in their nostrils the breath of life.
Genesis 2:21 JEHOVAH Elohiym caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs and closed the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which JEHOVAH Elohiym took from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she will be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore, a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they will become one flesh.
Yeshuwa gave an answer to the Pharisees about marriage when they came to Him.
Matthew 19:3 The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”
4 He answered and said to them, Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what Theos joined together, let not man separate.”
Paul gave instructions to the church at Corinth about harlotry in the body.
1 Corinthians 6:14 God both raised up the Kurios and will also raise us up by His power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christos? Will I then take the members of Christos and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “will become one flesh.” 17 However he who is joined to the Kurios is one spirit with Him. 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Hagios Pneuma who is in you, whom you have from Theos, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify Theos in your body and in your spirit, which are Theos’.
When you accepted Iesous Christos as Savior and Kurios, you committed your life to Him in every way, including your marriage. Just as Solomon instructed his children to enjoy the wife of their youth, you are to heed Iesous’ and Paul’s instructions to flee fornication and everything that takes you away from Theos.
Don’t give Satan a reason to sit back and chortle with glee because you live your life in the freedom of the world. Flee fornication. Live with the spouse Theos gave you, and you will find blessings from JEHOVAH.
Let’s pray: Father, keep me from the immoral sin prevalent in the world today. Let Your love fill me for the spouse You gave me and let me never stray from or look at someone else to lust after them. Let me give Satan no reason to laugh at me for the sin he tempted me with but let him flee in defeat because I will give no place for evil in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
