Day 281 – Work
Proverbs 10:4 He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
God’s names:
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Iesous – Jesus
God’s character:
Provider
Poverty and homelessness rage across the world. You see it in every city. How much of this could be avoided if people worked? I know many people cannot work and need help, but for those who have no excuse for not working and taking care of themselves only poverty will be their lot.
Solomon saw the attitude of the people when it came to work and providing for their families and saw how laziness brought poverty, but hard work brought wealth.
Many Christians believe that accepting Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord would automatically provide everything, they needed without working for it. It doesn’t work that way. Yeshuwa told His disciples they needed to work until the day He returned. He didn’t ask them to do anything He didn’t do Himself.
John 4:34 Iesous said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!
Matthew 25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and at once he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them and made another five talents. 17 Likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 However, he who had received one went and dug in the ground and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 Then he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter the joy of your lord.’ 24 Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 I was afraid and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ 26 However, his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 Therefore, you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my coming I would have received my own with interest. 28 Therefore, take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. 29 For everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 Cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
What will Yeshuwa provide for you? He will provide everything you need when you do His work. However, you will receive nothing when you don’t live an obedient life and do His work. You bring poverty to your soul when you don’t do His work.
Make it your priority to do Yeshuwa’s will and watch Him bless you with everything you need and those things you want.
Let’s pray: Father, give me a heart to do Your will every day and not look for excuses not to do Your work. Change my heart to live only for You. No more excuses. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
