Day 284 – Forgotten

Proverbs 10:7 The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.

God’s names:

Yeshuwa – Jesus

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Kurios – Supreme Authority

Pater – Father

God’s character:

Blesser

Funerals take place every day. When people gather to remember the person who passed, they recall the good things the person did in their life. However, when dishonorable people pass, their funerals are poorly represented.

Solomon said people would remember the blessings JEHOVAH gave righteous people, but the names of wicked people would die with them. Nobody would remember them.

Jehoram was the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah. He killed his father’s sons, and followed in the ways of Ahab, king of Israel. When he died after reigning eight years, this is what is said about him:

2 Chronicles 21:20 He was thirty-two years old when he became king. He reigned in Jerusalem eight years and, to no one’s sorrow, departed. However, they buried him in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings. (NKJV)

No one mourned his death.

What kind of Christian are you? Will people remember you for the righteous person you were while you lived, or will they think of you as one who did not do what Yeshuwa told you, and soon forget you lived?

No one wants to be forgotten. They want their memory to live on after their death. Yet for many people, when names are mentioned, they have no memory of the person. They called themselves Christians but didn’t do what Yeshuwa told them to do. Instead, they lived their Christian life, their way.

Hear what Yeshuwa said about such people:

Matthew 7:22 “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Kurios, Kurios, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Yeshuwa also said you would know them by their fruit.

Matthew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore, by their fruits you will know them. 21 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Kurios, Kurios’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Pater in heaven.

Are you doing the will of the Pater in heaven? Do you obey Him when He tells you to do something, or are you one who after He tells you to do something, you pray about it and never follow through with what He told you? Yeshuwa blesses those who obey Him. Those who don’t will be forgotten by Him.

Don’t be forgotten by Yeshuwa.

Let’s pray: Father, forgive me for living for myself and not for You. Turn my heart to obedience to You in everything You tell me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 30 October 2025 by Valerie Routhieaux
