Day 294 – Instruction
Proverbs 10:17 He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, but he who refuses correction goes astray.
God’s names:
Yeshuwa – Jesus
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Elohiym – Supreme God
Bara’ – Creator
Kurios – Supreme Authority
Theos – Supreme Divinity
Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
God’s character:
Teacher
Parents start teaching their children from the moment they’re born. They hope to instill the value of right and wrong in their lives. Yet some children refuse to learn and heap trouble on their heads, while others receive instruction with joy and find a happy life.
David instructed Solomon in the ways of JEHOVAH. Solomon needed to learn the truth of his proverb the hard way. During his life, he denied himself nothing. Solomon married foreign women, Elohiym told His people not to marry because they would lead His people astray. Solomon worshiped the elohiym of his wives and turned away from JEHOVAH until the end of his life.
Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember now your Bara’ in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them”: 2 while the sun and the light, the moon and the stars, are not darkened, and the clouds do not return after the rain; 3 in the day when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men bow down; when the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look through the windows grow dim; 4 when the doors are shut in the streets, and the sound of grinding is low; when one rises up at the sound of a bird, and the daughters of music are brought low; 5 also they are afraid of height, and of terrors in the way; when the almond tree blossoms, the grasshopper is a burden, and desire fails. For man goes to his eternal home, and the mourners go about the streets. 6 Remember your Bara’ before the silver cord is loosed, or the golden bowl is broken, or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the well. 7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to Elohiym who gave it.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear Elohiym and keep His commandments, for this is man’s everything. 14 For Elohiym will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.
At the end of his life, Solomon realized JEHOVAH was everything, and those things he indulged in life and the worship of false elohiym brought death to the soul.
Many Christians act like Solomon. They live their lives how they want to live it, still calling themselves Christians, yet darkness floods their soul. Only when they realize as Solomon did at the end of his life that obedience to Yeshuwa is more important than the pleasures of life, will they return to Yeshuwa.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Kurios, you committed to living for Him alone and not the pleasures Satan offers. Those who live obedient lives for Yeshuwa listen to His instruction found in the words of Scripture.
How do you spend your life? Do you read your Bible, spend time in Bible study and prayer, go to church so you can receive instruction, or do you only go to church once a week and your Bible remains unopened during the week while you indulge your life in whatever pleases you?
Paul in his letter to the Corinthian church admonished them for their behavior.
1 Corinthians 10:15 I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say. 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christos? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christos? 17 For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we partake of that one bread. 18 Observe Israel after the flesh: are not those who eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? 19 What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? 20 Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to Theos, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of Kurios and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of Kurios’s table and of the table of demons. 22 Or do we provoke Kurios to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
When you follow the instructions written in Yeshuwa’s Word, Satan will not snare you with the pleasures of this life.
Let’s pray: Father, Your Word is my life, my instructions from the evils of this world. Help me live as unto You, listen to You, and obey everything You tell me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
