Day 300 – Life
Proverbs 10:27 The fear of JEHOVAH prolongs days, but the years of the wicked will be shortened. 28 The hope of the righteous will be glad, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Yeshuwa – Jesus
God’s character:
Reverent Awe
Many people wonder why people die at a young age. You often hear that their lives were cut short. While people you expect to die young live long lives.
Solomon understood that when you reverence JEHOVAH and give Him awe, He will prolong a person’s life. When they didn’t, He shortened them.
As Christians, your hope and expectation are in Yeshuwa. When you fear Him, give Him reverential awe and respect, He will give you a long life.
Many people are living longer lives. People credit those long lives to medical science. Yet when you speak to those who live long lives, they often credit their relationship with Yeshuwa as the defining factor in their longevity.
Hezekiah was a king who served JEHOVAH. He did what was right in His eyes. When Isaiah told him to set his house in order because he would die, Hezekiah poured out his heart to JEHOVAH.
2 Kings 20:1 In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says JEHOVAH: ‘Set your house in order, for you will die, and not live.’” 2 Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to JEHOVAH, saying, 3 “Remember now, O JEHOVAH, I pray, how I walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and done what was good in Your sight.” Hezekiah wept bitterly. 4 It happened, before Isaiah had gone out into the middle court, that the word of JEHOVAH came to him, saying, 5 “Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says JEHOVAH, the Elohiym of David your father: “I heard your prayer, I see your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you will go to the house of JEHOVAH. 6 I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My sake, and for the sake of My servant David.”’”
Hezekiah was faithful and JEHOVAH rewarded him with a longer life. He will do the same for you when you honor Yeshuwa with your life.
Whom do you honor with your life, yourself or Yeshuwa. What does your life look like, trouble or blessing? Give Yeshuwa the reverential fear He deserves, and you will see His blessings in your life.
Let’s pray: Father, I stand in awe of You. You have given me blessings too numerous to count. Let me always reverence You. Prolong my days according to Your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
