I know I answered this question once before. My answer might still be the same. I think the first time I mentioned I would like to meet Jesus. I’ve already met Him and He lives in me. So, who would take center stage in those I would like to meet?
I have many questions for the Apostle Paul. In fact I have many questions for many of the people mentioned in the Bible. I think for this prompt, I’ll choose Esther.
Queen Esther was chosen for her beauty, but it wasn’t her beauty that makes her my choice for who I would want to meet. I would ask her how she could maintain her anonymity throughout her time with the other women captured for the purpose of becoming the next queen of Persia. I would ask if she ever wanted to rebel against Mordecai’s dictate to keep silent about her ethnicity. It wasn’t favorable at that time to be known as a Jew. I would ask her how she felt when Mordecai told her about Haman and his plans for the Jewish people, especially when he told her she needed to approach the king, her husband. I would ask her what gave her the greatest courage to save her people when their death was in the cards against them because of Haman. Then I would ask her about what happened after Haman faced his demise at her hand. How she fared as the Queen of Persia.
Esther is one of my favorite love stories in the Bible and one of those historical figures who isn’t in Jesus’ lineage, but is still one of the most important figures in Jewish history.
If I could take one thing from Esther, it would be her courage in the face of danger and death. It’s obvious to me in reading this short story that the king loved and respected her.
Which historical figure would you like to meet? Why? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.
