God’s character:
Deliverer
Strength
Redeemer
People get in trouble everyday by saying something that insults another person. From early childhood, parents tried to teach their children to think before they speak. Only the person they slander knows the truth about what was said to them.
Solomon called such people hypocritical. He said knowledge would deliver the righteous from the deadly words spoken against them.
Before you became a Christian, you too might have used your tongue unwisely against people, slandering them, and treating them with disrespect. Some Christians take it as their right to say whatever they want to people because they were in the know about certain people and unwilling to learn the truth about their ‘knowledge’.
How many Christians stand in judgment from other Christians. They walk around wounded because not only the person who slandered them believes what they said, but they convinced others with their ‘truth’ against the person.
Are you one of the walking wounded or have you wounded intentionally or unintentionally? Do you weigh your words before you say them?
When Paul met Yeshuwa on the road to Damascus, he needed to convince other disciples of Yeshuwa that he was one of them. They believed he wanted to get into their inner circle so he could destroy them. It took Barnabas’ testimony about Paul to convince them that Paul was on the level and one of them, not out to harm them but to help them spread the gospel of Iesous Christos.
Has someone vouched for you and healed your character? Have you learned the truth about the person you slandered and made amends? Only Yeshuwa can heal a broken heart torn apart by other believers.
Luke 4:18 “The Pneuma of KURIOS is upon Me, because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 to proclaim the acceptable year of KURIOS.”
Turn to Yeshuwa for healing. Let Him guide you in the words you say. Words can destroy or set you free. Use your words wisely.
David prayed for JEHOVAH to keep a watch over his mouth.
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O JEHOVAH, my strength and my Redeemer.
James 3:1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing we will receive a stricter judgment. 2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. 4 Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! 6 The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. 7 For every kind of beast and bird, reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8 However, no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Theos and Pater, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of Theos. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brother, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? 12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus, no spring yields both salt water and fresh.
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 However, if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your heart, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
Think before you speak.
Let’s pray: Father, forgive me if I said anything that brought harm and destroyed another person. Help me speak before I say anything. Let me meditate on Your Word as David did and let it put a watch guard on my mouth to guard me against Satan’s lies. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
