Day 321 – Discretion

Proverbs 11:22 As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.

God’s names:

Yeshuwa – Jesus

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Soter – Savior

Kurios – Supreme Authority

Theos – Supreme Divinity

God’s Character:

Discernment

Many things go together well: peanut butter and jelly, hands in gloves, chocolate and peanut butter. However, there are things that don’t go well together, a ring of gold in a pig’s snout, and women without discretion.

The tabloids are quick to point out the worst dressed women at public events. They show almost everything without being naked. They show no discretion. It isn’t only in their clothing, but it’s in everything they do and speak. The tabloids are quick to print every word they say.

Solomon saw how people behaved and contrasted their behavior with the behavior JEHOVAH expected from His people.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, you committed to putting away your old nature that didn’t glorify Him. Peter in his book gave a detailed description about how women should conduct themselves.

1 Peter 3:1 Wives, likewise, be submissive to your husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, 2 when they see your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.

3 Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— 4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of Theos.

1 Timothy 2:8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.

Yeshuwa expects you to use discernment in everything you do in public and private. How you behave when you’re alone will be how you behave in the company of other people.

The world will also see what you do and either praise you or condemn you for the discretion you use in your daily life. Don’t let your words, actions, or appearance show anything but the man or woman of faith you profess to the world. Everything else will turn people away from the gospel, not bring them to Yeshuwa.

Let’s pray: Father, help me to use discretion in everything, so I will not bring shame to Your name and people will not believe I belong to You. Let my words and actions always glorify You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
