Day 324 – Generous
Proverbs 11:25 The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself. 26 The people will curse him who withholds grain, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.
God’s names:
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Elohiym – Supreme God
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
God’s character:
Provider
Do you know generous people? Generous people don’t think about themselves, but what they can do for others. They are the first ones to volunteer their time and resources to help wherever the need arises. However, people who seek only their own welfare will find only trouble in their lives.
Solomon contrasted the two types of people – those who helped and those who kept their resources close to home. He saw how JEHOVAH blessed those who gave generously and how He brought a curse on those who refused to help others.
As Christians, it’s sad to see this same mentality in the church. When volunteers are needed in various ministries, it’s the same people who offer their time and resources to fill the positions, while the rest of the members are quick to leave when the service is over. Those members who leave find themselves in need. When they ask for help, they don’t receive it. Why? The leadership will look at what those people did for others. Did they water those in need? Did they help when asked? Did they give their time and wealth? If the answer is no, then they will not find help from church leadership. However, when people who help others need help themselves, they will find help given to them.
Malachi 3:8 “Will a man rob Elohiym? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says JEHOVAH of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. 11 I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor will the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” says JEHOVAH of hosts; 12 and all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says JEHOVAH of hosts.
Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (NKJV)
You want Yeshuwa’s blessings in your life. You don’t want to face hardship. The only way to receive Yeshuwa’s blessings is to give generously with what Yeshuwa gave you. When you withhold help to others, Yeshuwa will withhold His blessings.
What does your life look like? When was the last time you helped those in need, or filled a position at church?
Let’s pray: Father, help me to be a blessing to others and give with a willing heart what You gave me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
