God’s character:
Rewarder
First and Last
The first thing you notice about people is how affluent they appear. Some people exude wealth while others exude poverty. However, looks can be deceiving. The wealthiest person might be on the verge of bankruptcy. While the person living in poverty might be rich. What makes the difference?
Solomon said the righteous would be recompensed on the earth. Those who trusted in JEHOVAH to provide everything they needed. Those who spent time with Him reading the law as He commanded Moses the people should do. Those who looked to Elohiym as their strength and defense. They were righteous before Elohiym and knew JEHOVAH’S rewards. Whereas those who trusted only themselves saw a different reward from Him, one that didn’t lead to eternal life, but eternal separation from Him.
What kind of life did you have before you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios? Did you have the wealth of the world and wanted for nothing? Or did you live in poverty and wonder where your next meal would come from? What caused you to accept Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios? What does your life look like now? Do you know Yeshuwa’s rewards or do you still face poverty in your soul?
People accept Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios for many reasons. One is a quick fix. They believe accepting Him is a get out of Hell free card while still holding onto their old lifestyle. Another reason is they believe their lives will change overnight and they will be free of the problems that haunted them before they accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios. Still others accepted Him as their Messiah and looked to Him in every trouble they faced. They turned to Yeshuwa’s Word, studied what He said. They knew accepting Yeshuwa wasn’t a quick fix for their trouble, but they knew He would reward their faithfulness in Him.
Luke 8:4 And when a great multitude had gathered, and they had come to Him from every city, He spoke by a parable: 5 “A sower went out to sow his seed. As he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. 6 Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. 7 Some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. 8 Others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold.” When He had said these things He cried, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
9 Then His disciples asked Him, saying, “What does this parable mean?”
10 He said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that ‘Seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’ 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of Theos. 12 Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they believe and be saved. 13 The ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. 14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 However, the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.
What kind of Christian are you? Does life choke you so that you have trouble believing Yeshuwa hears your prayers and you take matters in your hands only to find more trouble coming your way? Or do you see Yeshuwa’s rewards and blessings daily because you faithfully look to Him for everything in your life?
2 Corinthians 8:7 But as you abound in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in diligence, and in your love for us—see that you abound in this grace also. 8 I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love by the diligence of others. 9 For you know the grace of our Kurios Iesous Christos, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.
Revelation 2:8 “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write, ‘These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life: 9 “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich); and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulations for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. 11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Pneuma says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.”’
Faithfulness brings rewards and makes you rich. Your poverty, as seen by the world, is riches in Christos Iesous.
Let’s pray: Father, You alone know my heart and my life. You know my faithfulness to You. Keep my feet from stumbling and looking to the world for answers when You are the answer. When I stumble, lead me back to the path leading to salvation. For in You alone, I am rich and need nothing. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
