Day 342 – Truth
Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are an abomination to JEHOVAH, but those who deal truthfully are His delight. 23 A prudent man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaims foolishness.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Soter – Savior
Kurios – Supreme Authority
Elohiym – Supreme God
God’s character:
Truth
Wisdom
Merciful
Judge
Blameless
Lovingkindness
Just
People don’t like liars. Liars can’t be trusted. They look out for themselves and expect that everyone else is like them.
Solomon’s first act as king dealt with two women who lied about the child they bore. When he used wisdom to discern the matter, everyone knew he was a wise king who could be trusted with the matters of the kingdom. He told the people what JEHOVAH hated.
Proverbs 6:16 These six things JEHOVAH hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.
When you know what JEHOVAH hates, you can set your heart on wisdom and discretion.
Christians come from every kind of background. They followed the ways of their father, the father of lies, Satan.
Yeshuwa confronted the Pharisees with their sinful actions.
John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. (NKJV)
Becoming a person of integrity isn’t easy when you lived a life of lies and deceit before you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios. It takes work. Everyone was born in sin.
When confronted with his sin, David prayed to JEHOVAH.
Psalm 51:1 (To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.) Have mercy upon me, O Elohiym, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. 4 Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight—that You may be found just when You speak, and blameless when You judge. 5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me. 6 Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
Only Elohiym can change your sinful nature into one that honors Him in everything you do. How you live your life for Yeshuwa will decide your eternal destination.
Yeshuwa told John to write about those who have part with Him in heaven.
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. (NKJV)
What do you need to change in your life as a Christian?
Let’s pray: Father, the song says, ‘Change my heart oh God, make it ever true. Change my heart oh God, may I be like You.’ Lord, if there is any wickedness in me, change me. Cleanse me and wash me clean by Your precious blood. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
