Day 352 – Light

Proverbs 13:9 The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked will be put out.

God’s names:

Yeshuwa – Jesus

Adonay – God’s proper name

Theos – Supreme Divinity

God’s character:

Righteous

What causes people to rejoice? Isn’t it when their lives look prosperous and nothing bad happens to them? Or when they come through a bad situation in their lives: illness, financial difficulties, and their situation turns around for the better? Many things cause people to celebrate and enjoy life. What about the false hope of people who take advantage of others for their own gain? It looks like they have everything in life, but their lives are built of evil intentions and one day, everything will come crashing down around them and they will have nothing.

Solomon said the light, the prosperity of those who followed the law of Adonay would rejoice in everything they do. However, everything a wicked person did would come to ruin.

Yeshuwa told the people that the light of the body was the eye. When they did what was right, they would have blessings in their lives. However, darkness ruled the lives of those with evil intentions.

Matthew 6:22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If, therefore, your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve Theos and mammon.

When you live your lives according to what Yeshuwa taught, you will prosper and live in the hope of eternal life. You will experience trouble, but it will not derail your faith when you give everything into Yeshuwa’s hands. Your hope is the lamp that burns bright for everyone to see. Wicked people don’t have the same hope. Their lamps are full of darkness and everything they do will reflect the darkness in their lives.

Does your lamp burn bright for Yeshuwa? Do people know you belong to Him? Is your life prosperous because you trust Yeshuwa? Or does your life look dark and full of despair?

You can live in the prosperity of the righteous by turning your life over to Yeshuwa and letting Him get rid of the darkness with His light.

Let’s pray: Father, let Your light fill me with the hope of Your salvation. Then my life will reflect You in everything I do. Don’t let the darkness of this world destroy my hope but keep me secure in the light of Your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
