Day 353 – Pride
Proverbs 13:10 By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well-advised is wisdom.
God’s names:
Yeshuwa – Jesus
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Theos – Supreme Divinity
Pater – Father
Iesous – Jesus
Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
Kurios – Supreme Authority
God’s character:
Wisdom
People take pride in everything – their jobs, accomplishments, their hobbies, their families – wives, children, whatever a person can take pride in, they boast about it to everyone to the point where the person they tell their achievements to become ad nauseum to the hearer. However, the person who puts effort into their work without drawing attention to what they do, shows wisdom in their attitude.
Solomon saw how pride brought about destruction in a person’s life. Their achievements became nothing but dust and ashes. Those who displayed wisdom saw the blessings of JEHOVAH in their lives.
What kind of person are you? When you became a Christian did you give honor and glory to Yeshuwa for what He did in your life, or did you boast about being a Christian as though it was something you did on your own?
Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the Theos and Pater of our Kurios Iesous Christos, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christos, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Iesous Christos to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christos Iesous for good works, which Theos prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
1 John 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved Theos, but that He loved us and sent His Huios to be the propitiation for our sins.
Your boasting is in vain if you boast about your accomplishments. It will become your stumbling block and lead to your ruin as a Christian. Your boasting should be in Christos who works in you to His glory, not yours.
Do not be proud of your accomplishments as though you did it alone. Instead, show what Yeshuwa did in you and boast in Him. Then He will bless you.
Let’s pray: Father, forgive me if I have taken pride in the work of my hands without acknowledging that my work is from You and You work in me for Your glory. Let my work always be for Your glory and praise. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
