Day 354 – Wealth

Proverbs 13:11 Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor will increase.

God’s names:

Yeshuwa – Jesus

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Elohiym – Supreme God

Soter – Savior

Kurios – Supreme Authority

God’s character:

Provider

People will do whatever it takes to make money, especially if they don’t want to work for it. Back in the days of Prohibition, people, known as mob bosses, gained a lot of wealth illegally. Eventually, they were caught or killed and their wealth confiscated. However, those who lived honest lives, working for their money, saw their wealth increase.

As king of Israel, Solomon saw dishonesty everywhere. He also saw how people who honored JEHOVAH gained wealth and blessings from Him. Solomon was the wealthiest person. He recounted how he worked for his wealth and told others to do the same.

Ecclesiastes 2:4 I made my works great; I built myself houses and planted myself vineyards. 5 I made gardens and orchards, and I planted many kinds of fruit trees in them. 6 I made water pools from which to water the growing trees of the grove. 7 I bought male and female servants, and had servants born in my house. Yes, I had greater possessions of herds and flocks than everyone in Jerusalem before me. 8 I also gathered for myself silver and gold and the special treasures of kings and of the provinces. I bought male and female singers, the delights of the sons of men, and musical instruments of many kinds. 9 So I became great and excelled more than everyone before me in Jerusalem. Also, my wisdom remained with me. 10 Whatever my eyes wanted I did not keep from them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, for my heart rejoiced in all my labor; and this was my reward from my labor.

Solomon also contrasted wealth as a gift from Elohiym and how wealth can be like a disease.

Ecclesiastes 5:19 As for every man to whom Elohiym has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of Elohiym.

Ecclesiastes 6:1 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men: 2 A man to whom Elohiym has given riches and wealth and honor, so that he lacks nothing for himself of everything he desires; yet Elohiym does not give him power to eat of it, but a foreigner consumes it. This is vanity, and it is an evil affliction.

It might look like the wealth a person gained was achieved by honest means, but Elohiym knows the heart of man, and strips him of it.

You can find dishonesty in the church also. Those who profess Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios yet live like kings until their dishonesty makes headline news and the world sees them for who they are and makes rash statements about Christians. Satan will use money to convince people that the church wants it for their own gain. Honest ministers give an account for the money that comes into their ministry. Their congregations know how the church spends the tithes and offerings.

What about you? Do you work for the money you receive, or do you find other ways to make money? If you are a child of Yeshuwa, your life should show it in everything you do, especially in the work you do. If you are dishonest, people will know it and tell others about how you cheat people. It is better to live an honest life and receive your blessings from Yeshuwa than to look over your shoulder, hoping you won’t be caught because of your dishonest ways.

In His Sermon on the Mount, Yeshuwa spoke about wealth.

Matthew 6:19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (NKJV)

Yeshuwa will increase your wealth when you trust Him with the work of your hands.

Let’s pray: Father, search my heart and bring to light my motives in everything I do. Let everything, I do be for Your glory and honor, and not for my selfish gain or ambition. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
