Day 355 – Hope
Proverbs 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.
God’s names:
Yeshuwa – Jesus
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
God’s character:
Hope
Life
People need hope. They need something to believe in. When it’s continually delayed, the heart grows weary and faith falters. However, when their hope happens, it instills new life in the person.
Solomon saw the hopelessness of the people; he may have seen it himself. He knew what it felt like when he saw his hope revealed and how new life flowed through his veins. He likened it to the tree of life.
We all go through times of hopelessness and despair. We all need hope to keep faith alive. JEHOVAH instilled hope in His people with the many promises He gave them of the coming Messiah. He kept their hope alive in the many victories they gained in their battles.
Israel was at a crossroads when Yeshuwa was born. They needed to revive their hope, to believe that JEHOVAH heard their prayers. Yeshuwa’s life instilled hope in His people and gave them something to believe in again.
When you became a Christian, you grabbed onto hope with both hands. You saw what it meant to have faith in Yeshuwa through the lives of other believers. Hope was born of a new life, a life not free from trouble, but help in trouble. Faith was born.
Romans 8:24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. (NKJV)
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (NKJV)
Hope lives in Yeshuwa. He is your tree of life.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me hope through Your Son. Your Word gives me hope that You always hear my prayers and will always act on my behalf. Give me faith to believe and keep hope alive when Satan comes to destroy my faith. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
