Day 361 – Inheritance

Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

God’s names:

Yeshuwa – Jesus

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Elohiym – Supreme God

God’s character:

Provider

Righteous

Parents want to leave an inheritance for their children at the time of their death. They want their legacy to reach beyond their life. Yet often it doesn’t happen that way. Especially if the person lived a dishonorable life. What they gained in their life ends up in someone else’s hands.

Solomon saw how JEHOVAH blessed His people when they obeyed Him. He also saw how a person’s wealth disintegrated when the person lived a dishonorable life, not following the ways of Elohiym. That person’s wealth went to those who obeyed Elohiym.

When it comes to an inheritance, Christians are no different from the rest of the world. They want to see good things come their way. They make investments, lay up their wealth for their children, and do whatever they can to make their children’s lives comfortable after their death.

Yeshuwa spoke about the inheritance you should look forward to. He didn’t say it was wrong to have wealth or give it to your children. However, there was another inheritance Yeshuwa spoke about, the inheritance you store up in heaven where moth and rust don’t intrude and where thieves don’t break in and steal. It’s the wealth of a righteous life.

Matthew 6:19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (NKJV)

It’s the heart Yeshuwa looks at when He provides blessings to His people. He promises to supply everything you need. He never promises to provide for your wants. When you live your life the way Yeshuwa directs, in complete obedience to His Word, you will see His blessings come your way.

Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (NKJV)

When you don’t give to JEHOVAH first, He rebukes you and your life will look like a curse instead of a blessing. You can turn His curse into a blessing.

Malachi 3:8 “Will a man rob Elohiym? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says JEHOVAH of Tsada, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor will the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” says JEHOVAH of Tsada; 12 and all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says JEHOVAH of Tsada.

Deuteronomy 8:18 “And you will remember JEHOVAH your Elohiym, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Obedience is the key to the wealth Elohiym promised His people and Yeshuwa gives to you. Then the wealth you obtain in this life won’t go to others but will go to your children.

Let’s pray: Father, give me an obedient heart that seeks You and Your will for my life. Then I will see Your blessings and not cursing in my life. Give me the inheritance You stored up for me, and I can pass to my children. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
