Day 2 – Discernment

- God’s character:
- Wisdom
Have you been around people who every time they open their mouths, you shake your head and wonder where they got their logic? They are so sure of themselves and what they believe they are proud of themselves for thinking so logically. When you keep your mouth shut against such people, you show wisdom and it will preserve you. You know if you said anything, you would never convince them that what they believe isn’t the truth.
As king of Israel, Solomon met with many people daily. He heard what they said and learned early that no amount of wisdom would change their minds. Only by keeping quiet would a person show wisdom towards such people.
How often do people who call themselves Christians try to persuade you with false doctrine? What they preach from the pulpit, teach in their Bible studies, or listen to online is contrary to the Bible. Only in knowing Yeshuwa’s Word, studying it daily, attending a church where the minister teaches from the Bible, can you gain a heart of wisdom and know when you hear false doctrine.
Galatians 1:6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christos, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christos. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
Ephesians 4:4 There is one body and one Pneuma, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Kurios, one faith, one baptism; 6 one Theos and Pater of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
You need to discern what you hear when someone teaches what sounds like sound doctrine. Let the Hagios Pneuma give you discernment in what you hear, open your Bibles and verify what the person is teaching you.
- 1 Corinthians 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: 2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore, I make known to you that no one speaking by the Pneuma of Theos calls Iesous accursed, and no one can say that Iesous is Kurios except by the Hagios Pneuma.
- 4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Pneuma. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Kurios. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same Theos who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Pneuma is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Pneuma, to another the word of knowledge through the same Pneuma, 9 to another faith by the same Pneuma, to another gifts of healings by the same Pneuma, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Pneuma work all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
When you allow the Hagios Pneuma to give you discernment in what you hear, you will always stay on the true path of righteousness and wisdom will guide your life.
Let’s pray: Father, give me discernment in everything I hear from those who call themselves Christians. Let Your Word delve deep in my spirit and show me the truth. Let every word I speak be directly from You and not from my feeble understanding. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
