- Joy
What mask do you hide behind? Many people look happy, but their hearts grieve, their life is bitter, hopeless. They have a pity party with no invitations. Joy is the farthest thing from their imagination.
Did Solomon know the bitterness he spoke about here? I would say yes simply by the tone of this verse. Strangers could not hope to get close to sharing what joy he felt when his heart was bitter.
What brings about bitterness in a person’s life? Only you can answer that in your life. Many outside influences cause people to become bitter and hopeless. They might feel life could not get worse, and then it does. It is in those moments, people commit suicide.
What about you as Christian? Do you walk the hopeless road where bitterness dwells and joy have no place? Yeshuwa came to take your troubles and bring peace to your life. You only need to let Him in so He can heal your broken heart.
Psalm 147:1 Praise JEHOVAH! For it is good to sing praises to our Elohiym; for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. 2 JEHOVAH builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the outcasts of Israel. 3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 4 He counts the number of stars; He calls them all by name. 5 Great is our Adown, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.
Isaiah 61:1 “The Ruwach of the Adonay Y@HOVIH is upon Me, because JEHOVAH has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 to proclaim the acceptable year of JEHOVAH, and the day of vengeance of our Elohiym; to comfort all who mourn, 3 to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of JEHOVAH, that He may be glorified.”
Luke 4:18 “The Pneuma of KURIOS is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 to proclaim the acceptable year of KURIOS.”
Instead of going down the hopeless road of self-pity, Yeshuwa invites you to give Him your burdens.
Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (NKJV)
It’s easy to wallow in bitterness and throw a pity party. It’s hard to share your burden with anyone, even Yeshuwa. However, when you do, you will feel a release you never expected, and the light of hope and joy will flood your soul.
Take off your mask. Let Yeshuwa heal your brokenness and bring joy back into your life.
Let’s pray: Father, too often I walked the broken road, fractured, torn, not knowing which way to turn or how I could make it on my own. You told me I don’t walk this road alone. You are beside me urging me to give You my burdens. Help me to do just that, Lord. Take my burdens and bring Your joy back into my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
