Day 11 – Wisdom

Proverbs 14:15 The simple believes every word, but the prudent considers his steps well.

  • God’s names:
  • Yeshuwa – Jesus
  • JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Elohiym – Supreme God
  • Iesous – Jesus
  • Theos – Supreme Divinity
  • God’s character:
  • Wise

People – children especially – will tease other children for believing everything a person tells them. They’re called gullible. They will go through their entire childhood with that label on them, laughed at and having the name thrown at them at every turn. It isn’t an easy label to overcome. It takes effort to become a prudent or wise person who considers everything a person tells them. Gullible can follow them into the workplace.

Solomon saw how people behaved, that is what his proverbs are about — the study of human nature. He saw how people manipulated each other, and he saw how they trusted JEHOVAH.

One consolation of a Christian who believes everything someone tells them, is that it’s easy to believe every word of the Bible. It’s easier for them to trust Yeshuwa’s faithfulness. They also face more ridicule from non-believers who refuse to accept that the Bible is the inerrant Word of Elohiym.

Yeshuwa told the people they needed to be as innocent as little children who trusted and believed Elohiym.

Mark 10:13 Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. 14 When Iesous saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of Theos. 15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of Theos as a little child will by no means enter it.” 16 And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.

Children are the most trusting, because of their innocence. They believe what their parents tell them, even when it gives them the gullible label.

It isn’t easy to shake the gullible label. However, when it’s combined with faith and the pursuit of knowledge, people don’t look at them as gullible anymore but wise in their knowledge and understanding of Scripture.

I would rather be gullible in the ways of Yeshuwa and His Word than gullible in the ways of the world. One makes you wise, the other leaves you hopeless.

Are you gullible?

Let’s pray: Father, give me wisdom when it comes to Your Word, even if it means people call me gullible. Let Your Word sink down into my spirit and rise as a flood so I can come against Satan and his demons who taunt me. Let me show his followers who the real gullible person is as I live in Your wisdom and strength. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
