John Bunyon wrote Pilgrim’s Progress about a person named Pilgrim who took a journey. Temptations met him along the way, temptations that could have given him a different outcome without perseverance. Evil is present everywhere. You only need to recognize it and steer away from it and get back on the path leading to life.
Solomon saw too many people who went astray from the truth Adonay provided for His people with the Law. He himself also went astray, but he returned to the truth. Temptation comes in many ways, especially when a spouse is involved, as it was with Solomon and the many foreign women he married.
Yeshuwa doesn’t expect you to traverse this life alone. He provided the path and the guide. He knows Satan will come against you to tempt you with the glamor and glitz of this life. You will stray, but the good news is, Yeshuwa forgives every time you come to Him.
Matthew 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. (NKJV)
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV)
John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Pater, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Pneuma of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
When you said yes to Yeshuwa, He gave you a Helper to be with you day and night — His Hagios Pneuma. You are not alone. He doesn’t expect you to walk the path of life alone. He knows it would be spiritual suicide because Satan would come against you without anyone to hold him back. However, with the Hagios Pneuma, you have the Word always with you in which to combat him.
Psalm 119:11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You!
Yeshuwa used Scripture when Satan tempted Him in the wilderness. When you spend time in Yeshuwa’s Word daily, His Word will be on your tongue ready to kick Satan where it hurts and he will flee from you.
Your weapons are prayer and Bible study. Satan hates both. Prayer kicks in the gates of Hell.
Matthew 11:12 “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. (NKJV)
2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in Theos for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Theos, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christos, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Kurios and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of Theos, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places.
What is the armor and how does it protect you?
Ephesians 6:13 Therefore take up the whole armor of Theos, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Pneuma, which is the word of Theos; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Pneuma, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
With your armor in place, Satan cannot take a foothold in your life. He will flee from you, and mercy and truth will belong to you.
James 4:7 Therefore, submit to Theos. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (NKJV)
Satan doesn’t stand a chance when you spend time in prayer and Bible study. It’s time to kick in the gates of Hell.
Let’s pray: Father, I cannot traverse this life without You. Thank you for giving me the Holy Spirit to guide me through life and giving me Your Word so I can stand against Satan. Bring me back to the narrow path when temptation calls to me and let me know the joy of eternal life that only comes from You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
