Day 17 – Work

Proverbs 14:23 In labor there is profit, but idle chatter leads only to poverty. 24 The crown of the wise is their riches, but the foolishness of fools is folly.

  • God’s names:
  • Yeshuwa – Jesus
  • Iesous – Jesus
  • Pater – Father
  • Huios – Son
  • Hagios Pneuma – Sacred, Holy; Violent Wind, Breath, Spirit
  • Christos – Anointed one, Messiah
  • Theos – Supreme Divinity
  • God’s character:
  • Provider
  • Wisdom

You find two different types of people in the workplace — one who works with integrity and one who is lazy and doesn’t care about his work. The slothful worker wanders from job to job. While the worker with integrity can provide for his family.

Solomon wasn’t only the king of Israel; he was an employer. He saw the effort his employees gave to the work he provided.

Yeshuwa is your employer. He has work for you as His child. Every Christian has a call on their life. The first call is basic for everyone.

Matthew 28:18 And Iesous came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Pater and of the Huios and of the Hagios Pneuma, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Yeshuwa commissioned you to go to the nations, make disciples, baptize, and teach. You are all members of the body of Christos. You have a place in the body with a specific calling.

1 Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christos. 13 For by one Pneuma we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Pneuma. 14 For in fact the body is not one member but many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would the smell be? 18 But now Theos has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. 19 And if they were all one member, where would the body be? 20 But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23 And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, 24 but our presentable parts have no need. But Theos composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, 25 that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. 26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. 27 Now you are the body of Christos, and members individually. 28 And Theos has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I will show you an excellent way.

Do you know where your place is in the body of Christos? Are you working in your calling? When you do the work Yeshuwa provided for you, He will bless you abundantly. However, if you feel your calling is unnecessary, and do not do the work He gave you, you are no better than a slothful Christian and will receive nothing from Him. You find many foolish Christians in the body of Christos. They want what Yeshuwa did not call them to be.

What are your gifts? That is your calling. Not everyone is called to be an apostle, prophet, teacher, or a worker of miracles. Some of you were called as administrators, rulers – employers, offer hospitality. Whatever Yeshuwa called you to do, do it with your whole heart.

1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore, be serious and watchful in your prayers. 8 And above everything have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of Theos. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of Theos. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which Theos supplies, that in everything Theos may be glorified through Iesous Christos, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Romans 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christos, and individually members of one another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything to the glory of Theos.

If the only thing you do is go to church, listen to the sermon, then go home, you are not an active member of the body of Christos. You are not working in the calling Yeshuwa gave you. You are a slothful Christian. Consider what you are passionate about, what you tell yourself you would do if —. If you never step out to do what Yeshuwa called you to do, you are a slothful Christian. It’s time to get off your hands and start doing.

Statistics show that 20% of church members — or any group — do all the work, while 80% talk about it and do nothing. It’s time to change the statistics. It’s time to become an active member of the body of Christos.

Let’s pray: Father, You put a specific calling on my life. Help me do the work You gave me to the best of my ability and not represent myself as a slothful Christian, wanting a different job other than the work You gave me to do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
