Day 19 – Refuge

Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of JEHOVAH there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge. 27 The fear of JEHOVAH is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death.

  • God’s names:
  • JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Yeshuwa – Jesus
  • Adonay – God’s proper name
  • Theos – Supreme Divinity
  • Iesous – Jesus
  • Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
  • God’s character:
  • Refuge
  • Life
  • Peace
  • Safety

What gives you confidence? Where do you find safety? How do you know you’re safe? These are questions people ask themselves about daily, either knowingly or unknowingly. They know when these areas of their lives are threatened.

Solomon knew where he could find confidence, refuge, and life — in JEHOVAH. No other place offered what Adonay offered. JEHOVAH offered peace, refuge, safety, and life. Only by spending time in the Law, could Solomon hope to keep himself free from the snares of death. Solomon stood in awe of JEHOVAH. He lived in confidence when He kept the Law in front of him. It was only when his many wives turned his focus from JEHOVAH, did he wander from JEHOVAH’S safety. It was in returning to JEHOVAH, that he found peace and safety once again.

When you became a Christian, you found the same refuge in Yeshuwa.

Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (NKJV)

You do not need to look farther than Yeshuwa to find peace, refuge, safety, and life. In Him you have peace that passes all understanding, a refuge from the storms of life, safety from Satan and his many temptations, and eternal life.

How do you obtain peace, refuge, safety, and eternal life? Only by spending time in His Word, reading, studying, praying, receiving encouragement from other believers when you go to church, will you find your life hedged with His protection. You will also have the weapons to fight Satan when he tempts you.

2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in Theos for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Theos, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christos, 6 and being ready to punish every disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to Theos; 7 and the peace of Theos, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christos Iesous.

Only in Yeshuwa will you find everything you need and eternal life. You only need to stand on His Word and promises, and He will keep you safe and provide a refuge in Him.

Let’s pray: Father, thank you for being my refuge from Satan’s storms. Thank you that I can have confidence in You because Your promises are yes and amen. When Satan comes against me, let Your Word rise within me and cast him from me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
