Day 31 – Words
Proverbs 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
- God’s names:
- Yeshuwa – Jesus
- JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
- God’s character:
- Tree of Life
You know the little ditty you said when you were young – sticks and stones will break the bones, but words will never hurt me. I don’t even remember learning it, but I remember saying it often until I thought about what it said and realized bones mend, but words sink deep into the soul and break the spirit, or they can lift you up and give you life. That taunt is meant to hurt, not heal.
Solomon knew how words affected people; they could heal like the tree of life. When JEHOVAH was in the words he heard, they brought life and health to the person hearing them. However, when words were spoken in anger, they brought death to the spirit, breaking the soul.
It’s hard to recover from ill-spoken words, words that sink into your soul. Many Christians live in a state of rejection from words spoken against them by people who were supposed to reinforce love. Instead, the words they heard were the opposite, they brought bitterness and hatred.
The only way to recover is to spend time with the person who loves you more than you can imagine. Yeshuwa’s love for you is deeper than the ocean, wider than the sea, higher than the highest heights; it is beyond measure.
When you grasp that concept, you will change. It will be like that grain of mustard, that when planted is the smallest seed in the garden, but as it grows, it becomes the tallest tree. Faith is like that. It starts out small and grows.
Faith grows when you spend time studying Yeshuwa’s word daily, spending time with other Christians who strengthen and encourage you, attending church and hearing Yeshuwa’s Word from the pulpit.
Don’t let faith wither with words of hate and rejection. Inject life in your soul with words of love.
Yeshuwa is not only life, but He is also a tree of life that produces only good things in your life.
John 15:4 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (NKJV)
What are you producing by your words? Let Yeshuwa produce only life-changing words that lift you and make you whole.
Let’s pray: Father, let Your words fill my mouth and sink deep into my soul, giving me life and health for daily life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
