Day 36 – Discipline

Proverbs 15:10 Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, and he who hates correction will die.

  • God’s names:
  • Yeshuwa – Jesus
  • JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Theos – Supreme God
  • Christos – Anointed one, Messiah
  • Iesous – Jesus
  • Kurios, KURIOS – Supreme Authority, Lord
  • Pater – Father
  • God’s character:
  • Judge

How often were you disciplined as a child? What did discipline teach you or did you receive discipline many times for the same reason?

Young children see discipline as hate. As they grow older, they see discipline as teaching; eventually, they see discipline as love.

Solomon knew discipline was meant for one reason — to teach a person the difference between right and wrong. He knew that continual wrong behavior brought harsh discipline. He also knew that JEHOVAH would not allow continual wrongdoing in the lives of His children, and they would die. JEHOVAH’S Law showed the consequences of bad behavior, often resulting in death.

Ezekiel 18:4 “Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine; the soul who sins will die.

As Christians, you know the consequences of bad behavior. Sins consequences are laid out plainly so that you are without excuse.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of Theos is eternal life in Christos Iesous our Kurios.

Hebrews 12:4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. 5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of KURIOS, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; 6 For whom KURIOS loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.” 7 If you endure chastening, Theos deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. will we not much more readily be in subjection to the Pater of spirits and live? 10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. 11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

No one likes discipline, but when you see discipline as a means of teaching, you will see the rewards gained by living a life of obedience to Yeshuwa. Yeshuwa loves you and will discipline you when you need it, just like your parents disciplined you as children.

When you sin, as we all sin, no one is exempt from sin, you can go to the Pater and He will forgive you and bring you back into a right relationship with Him.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Theos,

 (NKJV)

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV)

Yeshuwa’s forgiveness is guaranteed when you come to Him in humbleness of heart, seeking His forgiveness for your wrongdoing.

What do you need to ask Yeshuwa to forgive? Don’t let your sin simmer. Confess it and receive the joy of forgiveness.

Let’s pray: Father, I know I am a sinner. I sin against You every day. Forgive me and the willfulness of my sin and cleanse my heart and life from disobedience to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
