Day 44 – Work

Proverbs 15:19 The way of the lazy man is like a hedge of thorns, but the way of the upright is a highway.

  • God’s names:
  • Yeshuwa – Jesus
  • JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Theos – Supreme Divinity.
  • Soter – Savior
  • Kurios – Supreme Authority
  • Huios – Son
  • Pater – Father
  • God’s character:
  • Righteous

Laziness can be found everywhere — in the home, workplace, on the streets among the homeless. It’s a plague that marks society. People want to live better, but they don’t want to do what is necessary to have a better way of life. It becomes a hedge of thorns, they lived with it so long, they don’t want to break free from it. For those with determination and integrity, their life is like a highway — they find opportunities wherever they go.

Solomon saw how people lived. He saw those who came to his court, those who wanted handouts and those who gave. One was bound within a hedge of thorns they refused to escape, and the other showed the integrity of their heart in everything they did. Their life was like a wide-open highway, taking them wherever they wanted to go.

What kind of Christian are you? Do you have your hands out expecting everyone to take care of you? Or do you help wherever you can, giving because your hope and trust is in Yeshuwa.

Solomon knew people’s hearts. He knew the ones who trusted JEHOVAH because their lives showed the integrity of their heart. He also knew the ones who didn’t trust Him because their lives produced thorns of laziness.

When you became a Christian, people saw your heart too. They knew whether they could depend on you to do the work of the kingdom of Theos, or whether they should look for someone more reliable.

Christianity isn’t in word only; it’s also in deed. You serve Yeshuwa. He doesn’t serve you. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, you committed your life to a life of service, not laziness.

Mark 13:31 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. 32 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Huios, but only the Father. 33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. 34 It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. 35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— 36 lest, coming suddenly, he finds you sleeping. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”

You cannot watch for Yeshuwa’s return if you aren’t working. Don’t be a lazy Christian, expecting everyone to give you what you need. Be a doer of the Word, someone people can rely on.

Let’s pray: Father, help me do the work You gave me and not rely on others to provide for me. I do not want to be a lazy Christian. Let my hands work and my feet go wherever You tell me. Give me a willing heart of service to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
