Day 58 – Peace

Proverbs 16:7 When a man’s ways please JEHOVAH, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

  • God’s names:
  • JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Yeshuwa – Jesus
  • Soter – Savior
  • Kurios – Supreme Authority
  • Shalom – Peace
  • God’s character:
  • Peace

Many people look for a fight to get what they want. They thrive on confrontation. However, when a person does everything they can to avoid confrontation, even confrontational people will set aside their ways and live in peace with them.

Solomon was a man of peace. His reign was the only one known for peace with the countries surrounding Israel. Israel went through forty years of total peace. JEHOVAH promised David that his son would have a peaceful kingdom, and it was peaceful.

What would it be like to live in a world with total peace — no wars or even the hint of a war to mar the landscape or destroy people’s lives?

From the moment you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, Satan came against you. His temptations and chaos don’t bring peace but trouble. Yet, Christians are admonished to live in peace whenever possible with their neighbors.

Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. (NKJV)

Your peace is dependent on you. Paul told the Roman church they were to do everything they could to live in peace with those around them. It wasn’t easy when the Roman dictator sent Christians to the arena as sport for lions.

Peter told the people that Satan was a roaring lion, seeking people to devour.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. (NKJV)

You are to be watchful. You are to resist Satan. If you don’t, you will be caught up in situations that are anything but peaceful. Satan will destroy you if you aren’t vigilant to his ways. Peter knew that first hand when he denied Yeshuwa three times when the soldiers came to take Him prisoner and crucified Him. He played into Satan’s hands because he wasn’t watchful.

When you know how Satan seeks to destroy your life, you can be watchful, you can resist him, and you can live in peace with your neighbors.

Yeshuwa is your peace, your Shalom. You can’t live in peace if His peace doesn’t live in you.

John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (NKJV)

Do everything you can to live in peace with everyone and peace will live in your life.

Let’s pray: Father, help me to live in peace with everyone. Give me a peaceable nature so that people will see Your peace resting on me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
