Day 62 – Honesty

Proverbs 16:11 Honest weights and scales are JEHOVAH’S; every weight in the bag is His work.

God’s names:

  • JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
  • Pater – Father
  • Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
  • God’s character:
  • Honest

It’s hard to find honest people in sales and marketing. Every time you go to the store or pump gas, prices change. It’s also hard to find honest people in the workplace. People are out for their own gain and don’t care about other people as long as they make a profit in what they do.

Solomon found the same thing when he dealt with merchants. He knew the only just and fair person was JEHOVAH.

Yeshuwa found the same dishonest dealings in the temple porch where money changers changed people’s money according to their weights and scales. In response, Yeshuwa overturned the tables of the money lenders and took a whip to the merchants.

John 2:12 After this He went down to Capernaum, He, His mother, His brothers, and His disciples; and they did not stay there many days. 13 Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Iesous went up to Jerusalem. 14 And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers doing business. 15 When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables. 16 He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make My Pater’s house a house of merchandise!”

When you say yes to Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, you say yes to obedience and honesty. Yeshuwa measures your honesty against His scales of justice. Can you say you are honest in everything you do in Yeshuwa’s work?

Some Christians dishonor the name of Christos by extorting from the flock money to increase their wealth. You hear about those people who stand in public pulpits, preaching Yeshuwa’s Word, and then devote half their program to merchandise with the claim that Yeshuwa will reward you for giving into their ministry. The only thing you get is poor. There is nothing honest in exploiting JEHOVAH’S Word. When someone tells you the ground you’re sowing into is fertile, look into where the money goes. There is as much if not more dishonesty among Christians as there is among non-Christians.

When someone urges you to give, pray, seek Yeshuwa’s will. He will let you know which ground is fertile and which isn’t. Your biggest question should be — Who benefits? If Yeshuwa benefits, He will bless your gift. If the ministry benefits, and it is not Yeshuwa ordained, keep your money in your pocket. There is no blessing attached to anything where Yeshuwa is not the focus.

In everything you do, pray first. Yeshuwa will lead you to honest people who preach His Word and serve in His kingdom.

Let’s pray: Father, keep me honest in everything I do. Lead me to Your chosen vessels who honor You in everything they do and bless me when I give into Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
