Day 64 – Favor
Proverbs 16:15 In the light of the king’s face is life, and his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain.
- God’s names:
- JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
- Yeshuwa – Jesus
- God’s character:
- Life
- Favor
People like to stay on the right side of those in authority. When they do they find favor from those who can help them succeed where doing whatever they want can lead to trouble with those in authority.
Solomon saw many people every day. His word was law and those who didn’t obey his law found their lives cut off. However, when people obeyed him, they found his favor in their lives. Solomon knew that obeying JEHOVAH would bring him long life and favor. JEHOVAH’S favor was like the latter rain; it produced only good things.
People looked forward to the former rain because they needed the rain to grow their crops. In the same way they looked for the latter rain because it ripened their crops and produced a good harvest.
Christians start their life in Yeshuwa, committing their lives to Him to bring favor and blessing in their lives. However, many Christians forget their commitment to Him and lose their blessings. Their Christian walk dries up and doesn’t produce the fruit Yeshuwa planted in them. Only when Christians realize the dryness of their lives and that their blessing is dependent on Yeshuwa that they will renew their commitment so that the end of their life produces more fruit than the beginning of their life in Him.
Yeshuwa taught the people about the fruit they produced in their lives.
Matthew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore, by their fruits you will know them.
People will try to persuade you to believe what they tell you. However, their lives don’t produce the kind of fruit you need to live in the blessings Yeshuwa wants to give you. You need a discerning ear so that you will hear Yeshuwa’s voice and live in His will, producing fruits of righteousness that bring blessings in your life. When you do, it will feel like the latter rain people depended on to ripen their crops. Your fruit will bring a harvest of righteousness in Yeshuwa when you listen to Him.
What does your life look like? Do you live in the blessings of the latter rain, producing works of righteousness in Him, or have your blessings dried up because you can’t hear Yeshuwa’s voice. Renew your commitment to Him and see His blessings produce the fruit of righteousness in your life.
Let’s pray: Father, renew my life in You so that I will produce only the fruit of righteousness You have for me. Bless me as I listen to Your voice and act upon Your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
