Day 65 – Wisdom and Understanding

Proverbs 16:16 How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

  • God’s names:
  • JEHOVAH/YAHWEH: Self-existent, Eternal
  • Iesous/Yeshuwa – Jesus
  • Kurios – Supreme Authority
  • Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
  • Hagios Pneuma – Sacred, Holy, Violent Wind, Breath, Spirit
  • God’s character:
  • Wisdom
  • Understanding

I’ve been searching from the beginning of this study for God’s name, YAHWEH. In one of the new study Bibles I have there is a box with the heading Names of God. I use New King James Version for my personal Bible reading and Bible study. King James Version renders God’s name as JEHOVAH. New King James Version renders it YAHWEH. Going forward you will see the names side by side.

People run after fame and money or wealth. They believe that money will get them everything. What they don’t understand is that money causes most of the problems they face. Gold and silver will never give them what they truly want.

Solomon understood that wealth wasn’t the answer, YAHWEH was the answer. He provided wisdom and understanding. With wisdom and understanding you can obtain wealth, but it won’t satisfy what you need most.

Many Christians run after the same things as the world, fame and fortune while ignoring the most important thing — a relationship with their Kurios Iesous Christos. Yeshuwa will supply every need you have including wealth to take care of your needs. It is only by making money what you desire most that you run into trouble and lose your relationship with Yeshuwa.

1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of every kind of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

When you read the entire portion in 1 Timothy you will see what you are to desire more than money.

1 Timothy 6:6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we will be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of every kind of evil, for which some have strayed from faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But you, O man of Theos, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

These virtues you are asked to pursue you will find in the fruit of the Hagios Pneuma.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Pneuma is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christos’ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Pneuma, let us also walk in the Pneuma. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Therefore, it is better to seek wisdom and understanding because by it you also receive the fruit of the Hagios Pneuma who keeps you in close relationship to Iesous Christos.

Let’s pray: Father, I want only what You want to give me: wisdom and understanding. Give me what You want and let me be content with Your blessings and not seek after something that would lead me into the temptation of greed and malice and forsake the truth of Your Word, which is love. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
