Day 73 – Wickedness

Proverbs 16:27 An ungodly man digs up evil, and it is on his lips like a burning fire. 28 A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates the best of friends. 29 A violent man entices his neighbor and leads him in a way that is not good. 30 He winks his eye to devise perverse things; he purses his lips and brings about evil.

Open the newspaper. Turn on the news. Move into a neighborhood. It doesn’t matter what you do, evil is everywhere.

Solomon saw evil everywhere he went. It resided in his courts. It lived in his house. He saw it in his brothers and in his sons. He knew how perverse man could be. Solomon saw how evil rotted a person from the inside out. He also knew the only way to get rid of evil was to trust Elohiym, read the Law, and spend time in YAHWEH’S presence. He couldn’t eliminate it, but he didn’t need it to govern his life.

When you go to church and walk through the doors, the first thing you see is people talking. How often is what you hear gossip? Christians will even gossip by calling it prayer. Gossip tears people apart. It separates friends. When you take what you hear to Yeshuwa in the privacy of your home, He will bring peace to the problem.

Solomon gave a list of things people do that are an abomination to YAHWEH.

Proverbs 6:16 These six things JEHOVAH hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.

You don’t need to look far in the body of Christos to see everything Solomon spoke about, running rampant in the church today. It isn’t only in the world: on your television, Internet, in the newspaper. It’s everywhere. The only way to combat evil is not to give it a voice. Pray, seek Yeshuwa’s face, and turn from your wicked ways.

2 Chronicles 7:12 Then JEHOVAH appeared to Solomon by night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Prayer is the only thing that will heal the land. When you pray, seeking Yeshuwa with repentance in your heart, He will hear you. He will heal the perverse things in your life and turn your heart into a heart that seeks Him and doesn’t run after evil.

James 4:1 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with Theos? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of Theos. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Pneuma who dwells in us yearns jealously”? 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore, He says: “Theos resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Therefore, submit to Theos. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to Theos and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of Kurios, and He will lift you up. 11 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

Take every matter to Yeshuwa in prayer in the privacy of your home so that what you pray about does not become a matter of gossip and ill will against others. Let Him take care of the situation and He will bring peace to your life.

Let’s pray: Father, let the words You hear from me not be slanderous or full of gossip. Put a guard on my lips and in my heart. Let me rejoice in You and not in the ungodly perverse things of the world. You are all I want — to do Your will and be found righteous in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
