Day 83 – Discernment
Proverbs 17:7 Excellent speech does not become a fool, much less lying lips to a prince.
- God’s names:
- YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
- Hagios Pneuma – Sacred, Holy, Violent Wind, Breath, Spirit
- God’s character:
- Truth
People tune into important speeches made by those in authority because they want to hear something important that directly affects them. Those same people come away from the speech either loving what they heard or tearing what they heard apart because they didn’t hear what they hoped to hear. Those people deem the person a fool and walk away grumbling about everything the person said. They feel the same way about people who lie and even put the speech maker into the same category as a liar.
The person speaking doesn’t need to be a person in high authority, it could be anyone who stands in front of a group of people, speaking on a topic people want to hear then going away from the speech either in complete agreement or dissatisfied.
As king, Solomon made speeches all the time. He knew the people didn’t always agree with him. He also heard other people speak and knew if the person speaking was a fool or someone worth listening to. He also trusted YAHWEH with everything he told the people.
As Christians you have the Hagios Pneuma to give you discernment about everything you hear. You know when someone says something that doesn’t line up with Scripture. You have that check in your spirit. Let Yeshuwa and the Hagios Pneuma lead you to those who speak truth and your spirit will go away satisfied and not grumbling.
Let’s pray: Father, give me a discerning ear to know the truth when I hear it. Speak to my heart and spirit and let me praise You for the truth of Your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
